Kelvin Timeline all but confirmed

If someone really wanted to excuse the new look, they could say it's the Prime Universe in a post-Temporal War (when we ended up with Nazi aliens in the White House on Enterprise) continuum.
If canon ever attempts to explain the changing production design across shows in-continuity again, I'll have to be placed on the express transport to Tantalus colony. Know what I'm saying?

Of course, then you have to deal with the TOS you knew and loved (and TNG and DS9 and Voyager but again probably not Enterprise) no longer existing, but hey! It's just a TV show.

They just exist in different timelines, like the Abrams films, which I have no issue with.

Well that is what the caption says.

It also seems to match the shuttle you can see Michael running to in one of the trailers.

The gold highlights on the bridge definitely make it seem more warm and Starfleet-like, less BSG. I do think we're in good hands, here. I have high hopes for this series.

I checked again and yeah there are. Sorry, I'm just not used to seeing those in something Trek related.

I think the differences in the designs of DSC vs TOS can best be explained by Voyager's "Future's End" episode. In this episode we learn that the computer revolution of the 20th century would not have happened if not for Henry Stalling interfering in the past. So, if we assume that The Cage & TOS happen in a timeline with no meddling by Stalling, and ENT & DSC happen in a timeline in which he did meddle, this can explain why the latter two shows look more advanced and use more advanced technology. :D

I realize you're just joking, but DSC doesn't need to justify how it looks by using an episode from a tv show made 20 years ago that the viewing audience probably never even saw.

Yet they seem to want to be consistent with that TV show from twenty years ago that viewing audience probably never saw.
