Discovery renewed for second season?

No doubt some credible source will eventually confirm the postings on these no-name clickbait sites.
Yes, there will be other sources eventually aside from these insiders, but it's really just a formality at this point.

Gotta love this...

The upcoming series features a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. The critically-acclaimed drama releases with a 15-episode season one.

They haven't even seen an episode yet.

Well, no - it's typical clickbait: headline and message are crafted to maximize the potential for confirmation-biased resharing.
They are replicating the blurbs from an offical site like Netflix and the like. It's pretty easy to find, I expect to see that in media sites...and yes i know exactly what click bait sites do, tyvm...i have to weed through them all the time as a mod and admin on FB. However, these sites are only reporting a rumor of something I know to be true. Officially right now, it's a rumor.

This is the usual hyperbole I'm talking about

More to the point, "insiders" who talk to no-name bloggers before they talk to writers at Deadine, THR or even just bigger fan sites whose writers have established contacts at the studios.
Yeah, whatever. What makes you think they don't have the info too?

Oh, don't Internet sites customarily sit on this kind of light news? ;)
It's not really as big news as it normally would be...since it was announced it was in profit, and Moonves has been talking about other seasons since the beginning. If the Netflix deal renews for the next two seasons as he himself claims (I have no reason to doubt him) then even subscriptions are just gravy for those seasons. Why would anyone turn down that kind of money? So yeah, it's pretty much a formality. My question is what date will it be announced. Hoping for the Sept 19th premiere.

Every time I see troll comments on Youtube or elsewhere saying it will fail and last 1 season I laugh hysterically.

I think my biggest worry is that this is "Star Trek" and I'm honestly not pressed either way. There's just nothing about it that has captured my imagination. The best thing I've seen was the Discovery itself and that was at least a year ago.

It could be great, I'm hoping it is. But I'm not sold on it. I think the thing that has kept me interested to this point is the talented cast.

No problems with that. In fact, I just would hope the naysayers would look at it. I have a list of reasons why I'm happy this will be different than the increasing familiarity of the last TV Treks. Of course, nothing will beat actually seeing it.

I don't know of any other show that got a second season renewal before the show even starts. Usually shows are established and even then they announce renewals early into the current season (Veep and Silicon Valley) come to mind. I'm not going to get that excited until CBS says so.
