Why Benny Russell is writing "Discovery" like it seems it will be.

As we all know all of Trek is nothing more than the vision and writings of a 50's sci-fi writer named Benny Russell who had a nervous breakdown because of the racism he faced and was locked up. Well he clearly continued to write. "Voyager" inconsitency can be explained away by the fact that he was on some heavy medication I would imagine while being a patient. "Enterprise" was his first working gig after finally being released and he knew he needed to play it kind of safe because he clearly wasn't going to get a good gig after being locked up at first. Proably some smut rag or something so he went back to a white captain and some unnessary sex stuff to apease his bosses. The Kelvin UNiverse of course means by this point he was living in the 60's so he must have started to get into the counter culture and wanted his stories to be wild and vibrant to win over the hippies.

That means "Discovery" must be coming from him in the very late 60's or early 70's. Now he is part of the civil rights movement and trying to make a stand so his writing will reflect that. A strong black female lead. gay characters and what I still think is space weed in that one scene. The white captain who has villian written all over him represents "the man" and the klingon conflict is his commentary on Vietnam. It will be interesting to see what Trek becomes once he reaches the DIsco era of the 70's.

If his writing was in "real time" with the shows like that, he'd have written TOS when he was still a teenager.

The way I see it is in the DS9 episode when he came up with DS9 it was going to be part of a already established universe he had been writing for that pub. TOS you could say was his first story. A teenager or young adult makes sense. A strong focus on male friendship. Still kind of sees woman in less enlightned ways because he is still young and imature. TNG is when he finds love with the character played by the actress who plays the Kassidy Yates character. Life is going good for the most part even if the world has lots of problems in it. A form of maybe naive optiminsim has formed his stories.

There's an obvious troll meme to use here, but I shall resist using it.

I'm trying to grow as a person.

There is nothing wrong with exploring the the make believe nature of the Trek universe. "Discovery" says it's part of canon and canon says it's possible that it all comes from the mind of Benny Russell. It does come down to how you view what is going on in that episode. I think it's kind of fun to explore the idea that it did come from Benny Russell. In fact I would say it's possible to go even extra meta and say the Trek universe is a tv show that was created by someone who loved the Benny Russell stories and made them in a tv show, which got popular and became a franchise.

This means then that Benny Russell didn't look like Sisko because Russell would not be playing a tv character since he wasn't a actor and might not even be alive once they made DS9 into a series. That means the Benny Russell we saw was a fictional recreation of the real Benny. .

No it doesn't. No where was that ever stated as a possibility. It was all a vision/dream/hallucination Sisko had. Nothing more.

"Paint over the thread, Benny, and you can be free!" Said nurse Damar, handing him a paint roller.

"Yeah, Ok then", said Benny, helping the nice nurse paint over the damaged walls.

"Thank goodness that's over", he said, as he collected his shoes.
