Will Burnham have a love interest?

Cake

Captain
Captain
There is an interview with Shazad Latif in which he said this:
He’s gone through these horrible, horrible things. We explore that, and he explores that with other people in the ship….[With Captain Lorca] There’s a military connection there. There’s a bond there. And then there’s a chemistry, a relationship with [Michael] Burnham that he’s exploring.

It sounds like Tyler will be Burnham's love interest. Or do you think it means something else?

Doubtful, they don't really have the time. Other than the fact we know fungus guy has a partner, they aren't pushing or showing *any* romantic angles to the show.

If they want to include a romantic relationship between those two, they will take their time. Personally I think it is likely that Burnham won't stay single forever. Most serialized shows will give their main character sooner or later a love interest.

She comes across (so far) as pretty serious, add all that Vulcan conditioning and I have a feeling her love life would hardly be titillating.

Are you trying to make the point that there's always been romance in Trek? There has been of course, and most of it is bad.

I did enjoy "In Theory" and COTEOF of course, but most of the best episodes of Trek don't have much romance in them.

Just having a little fun.
This isn't fun...

Doesn't necessarily mean a romantic relationship, just a relationship between his character and the lead - it's important to establish the parameters between your characters, so you can combine any pair on screen. TNG wasn't so great at this, people tended to interact in silos, usually with the same people all the time, but DS9 and Voyager were much better. Firefly is good at it too, you can pick any combo of characters and describe the relationship.

More like:

Tyler: I was a POW. It was horrible.
Burnham: I was raised on Vulcan. I don't like sand. It gets in everything.
T: Everything?
B: Everything.
T: So. . . um. . . .
B: My place, or yours?
