CBS All Access Troubleshooting Thread

I know there's a discussion thread for All Access, and I'm not entirely sure this would be the forum for it, so if it should be merged or moved, I understand.

But I'd be curious what everyone else's experiences are with the service so far, and if they've had any problems or have found solutions to problems with it.

I finally decided to sign up last week, during the summer sale. I think my promo code worked. And I started using it a little bit.

I initially tried to download Version 2.2.2 for my new BlackBerry KEYone, but Google Play store said it wasn't compatible with my phone. So, I found an APK mirror site that allowed me to download Version 2.1.5, which seems to work okay. I use that in conjunction with the Chromecast app on my wifi to throw it to my TV at home.

The biggest problem I've had so far is that the app's interface doesn't seem to work the way it's supposed to. I use it in landscape mode and the left of the screen has a light blue section with buttons as follows:

* Discover
* Shows
* Live TV
* Settings

For some reason, any time I try tapping any of those buttons, it just brings me back to the carousels on the right. So that means I can't set up Live TV, and the only way I seem to be able to search for anything that's not on the carousels is to click on the search magnifying glass and speak a request.

Aside from that, I don't seem to be able to pause, rewind, fast-forward, or shuttle to a different point in a video, even when I see the controls for that.

The service is fine, though I don't really know how extensive the library is, since it's hard to browse at this time.

Anyone else have issues, have good experiences, bad ones, figured things out?

It's still a brand new Android phone, running Android Nougat 7.1. It's not a BlackBerry OS, even though it has some BlackBerry features, like the Hub.

That may be but it won't let you run the newest version of the app which is likely the problem.

Yeah, sadly most app designers design for Apple iPhones, Google Pixel, and Samsung Android smartphones. Anything else is just luck. I say this as one of the five people in North America to use a Sony Xperia Android smartphone. :p

Good idea for a thread. I didn't know about the summer sale. What's the price? How long does the special offer last? Is it only for 1 month or a few months? I was thinking about joining soon, but if it's on sale now, it might be a good time to jump on...

Sadly, the promotion was for one free month with a promo code starting August 18th. They may have another promotion, but I think they normally offer one week free no matter what, so I'd probably suggest signing up in mid-September so that you get that week to test it out before the 24th.

I've not signed up yet, but very much am willing to pay for the access to do so, but I would very much like to watch this show on my TV, and not on a smart phone or tablet, but I see that CBS All Access wont work with a smart TV. Does that mean I need Apple TV or Amazon Fire to see it on my TV? What options do I have?

Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360

Not for me. The PC is upstairs at the other side of the house, so the cable would have to be pretty long and expensive.

I have it running through my Roku, and the image quality is pretty craptastic. It's my fault, having DSL. But I've always been able to run Netflix just fine with DSL, so I'm a little confused, as I was alway told Netflix is the worst for that.

I am using it on my Xbox. I will use it for Star Trek. But there really isn't much in there library. Just re-runs. Old and new Hawaii 5.0 episodes. Stuff like that.

I think I figured it out. For some reason, even though I have the CBS All Access app, downloading the standard CBS app worked better for casting to the Chromecast device. I have all the functionality of the All Access app I need, but I actually interface through the regular CBS app.

OK, I got a Playstation account and went to CBS All Access. But when I try to watch any video, it says I need Flash player. But the PS4 says Flash isn't supported. Argh! I can't find a solution on line. Anyone connecting through a PS4 and can offer some help, please?

I subscribed yesterday and I was surprised they don't have complete series. For example, for CSI they have seasons 1, 2, and 15. What happened to 3-14 and this was CBS's highest rated show. Also, if they want to increase the notoriety of All Access, put the CW shows on there too and make them on demand content that won't go away. Now you target the younger millennial demographic and add some umph to a streaming service that needs it.

To view using the PS4, do I have to coonect through the Playstation network? I don't currently have an account; is that something I'll need to add?

Yes, you'll need a PlayStation Network account. Are you trying to view CBS All Access through the PS4 browser? Download and install the CBS All Access app instead.

That's where I was going wrong. I just discovered the app this morning. I'll try to install it tonight. Thanks!
