CBS All Access Troubleshooting Thread

Got everything working on my Roku 2, so that's all good. My only complaint is that TNG and TOS aren't in HD. Enterprise seems to be, though.

Yep. It's just weird that TNG and TOS have been available in HD for a while now, so it would make sense for them to be as well. Maybe one day. :)

So I am one of those that are going to pay to see this. My question is Will episode one be on CBSAA on Sunday night? If so when?

I just signed up for CBS All Access and watched TOS episode The Corbomite Maneuver on my iPad. Even though I got the cheaper subscription, I don't remember any commercials. One disappointment, the version that aired had the quality of a VHS tape recorded in the '70's. :brickwall:

For "classic" content, i.e. stuff that is ten years old or more, CBS All Access doesn't show commercials even on the $6 tier. And yeah, all of their Star Trek content is in 480i resolution... which makes no sense.

You do realize that before CBS created All Access they made many various deals with other streaming services some of which are exclusivity deals. TOS and TNG HD might have been one of those to ensure a large price.

It's why not all seasons are available from some of their shows in their library.

I just watched Man Trap and am now watching Enemy Within.

One was remastered, one was not.

CBS owns all this stuff; makes no sense why they're mixing and matching.

I subscribed yesterday to mainly watch on my Xbox One. You have to activate it there with a computer but otherwise no issues at all. Works great so far.

It was a pain in the ass figuring out how to get CBSAA via my Fire TV box. It was so unintuitive I actually had to google it. But honestly, I'm not sure who to be pissed at, CBS or Amazon. Neither of them made the process very easy.

Considering how uncooperative Amazon is with everyone else, I'd say Amazon. Setting up CBS All Access on the PlayStation 4 and Roku was easy.

I had no problem with FireTV myself. FireTV did update right before I got the CBSAA, though.

So, with just over two hours to go, I'm starting to wonder if CBS has ever stress-tested their servers. It seems like an odd thing to wonder about in 2017, but given that it seems like the site doesn't have the best infrastructure, I'm starting to worry.

Not such an odd thing to wonder about -- don't I keep hearing about HBO's servers failing during premieres of Game Of Thrones? And they've been at this longer than CBS!

yep - it's not an odd thing to be concerned about at all. May a server has crashed because somebody said: "Oh, it's okay - there's no way that many concurrent users will hit it -- only to find out they greatly underestimated.

We'll see tonight.

Remember when that last Sim City launch ground to a halt because of overloaded servers?
