Well, that's what the other shows are for. If all the Netflix shows took the same approach, they'd be less interesting overall. The goal is to appeal to a wide range of tastes, not just one person's preferences.

It wasn't a show about fights. It was a show about surviving abuse. You may as well complain about the lacklustre dramatic courtroom scenes or the total absence of bank heists and giant squids.
Not sure if sarcasm is intended but if serious I'd counter that 'great' is a bit of an overstep.
I liked it but it has some obvious flaws.
The hate train is indeed overboard but that's how the internets been working for some time now.
I'm optimistic about the announced S2 and change of show runners. Looking to see if Danny matures as a person and evolves into the superhero(costume-esque and all) that he can become during Defenders.
Rolling Stone calls the show "three-fourths great." And yes, that final fourth is Iron Fist. Their take on the character constrasts remarkably from the Post review.

It would be amusing if Netflix/Marvel kept Danny Rand as the hero everyone loves to hate, emphasizing the qualities people despise as sort of an inside joke, but at the same time making sure he was indispensable to the plot.
The concept of Iron Fist being bad is lost on me. Yeah, the fight scenes could have been better, an argument I frequently hear, but for the character, he's a kid who was raised by monks in a different dimension, who's then thrust back into a life he remembers as a kid. The betrayal of this was believable to me. I was invested in the Hand, their manipulation of the world, and the rebellion going on in their ranks, as well as what was happening with Danny's business and his friends. He's a bit naive dealing with these things, but that's to be expected. I can even see Dany in the movies, appearing at a meeting with Tony, without shoes.

At eight episodes, it seems manageable that I will be able to watch it in a couple of weeks. Maybe I'll finally be able to contribute to one of those threads?
There have been cases where I've been able to get through eight episodes in a single day. This will more likely take me two days, though.
I'm still struggling through Iron Fist. I'm going to try to finish, but no guarantees.
My family and job limits my reading and viewing time.
If worse comes to worst, maybe read a few on-line recaps and skip to the final episode. The very end is a cliffhanger that continues in Defenders.
I think Madame Gao has a bit of development that's relevant as well.
I'm a delivery driver for a new grocery delivery service and also a new food delivery service in town. I'm on the clock a lot, but I still have time to watch a lot of TV. I'm hoping to cheat the system for a little while longer! At least through Defenders...
