"We Boldly Go" - first commercial

Just came here to post that from Instagram. Lovely little teaser, not one mention of war, and a well delivered voiceover. The 'destiny' thing is perhaps a bit strong, but hopefully it is meant in the broader sense of Humanity and there are no 'chosen one's here.
Enough with the freakin' close-up character shots. We get it -- they're all over the posters, and each person has an individual "commercial" as well. Can we please see something more interesting. If Discovery's ad campaign is meant to turn people off, they're succeeding with flying colors.
I love it! So far CBS is hitting all the right notes for me in promo and design!

Not sure, because in ENT, "Where no man has gone before" was a direct quote from ZC, so I'm thinking this variation may be for the commercial. Good thought, though.
I was thinking of that, too. I was also listening to the music to see if that may be the theme, but it sounds more like the music they've been using in other DSC promos.

This kind of teaser trailer works well if you know the characters, e.g. Game of Thrones and Walking Dead have done it effectively for advanced seasons -- BUT NOT THE FIRST SEASON.
I don't know these people and I don't know why this should be of interest to me. Burnham's monologue isn't even compelling. In terms of telling me something new about Discovery, this is no different than the posters of their eyeballs.
I am still looking forward to the show, but this just doesn't do anything for me.
What's to know?
It's Star Trek. They are going to do Star Treky stuff.
These are the people that are going to do Star Treky stuff.
It's an established franchise, with a solid place in pop culture. They don't need to explain all that much.
I think it'll be the last trailer before we get anything giving any real idea of the shape of the show.
Some of the first TNG and DS9 commercials didn't even show any of the characters.
No, this was a teaser. They'll have to give us a more meaty commercial in the coming weeks.
BTW this is NOT the first commercial. DSC commercials have been playing now on TV for about 2 weeks.
This is a 40sec motion teaser. We didn't get any character motion vids today.
