Spoilers The Flash - Season 3

Oh hi Barry.
So surprised that you are back six months after that weird red sky thunderstorm...
Do you know that the Flash also vanished that day?
And just today he has been sighted again, too.
What an amazing coincidence, eh?

Probably pop back in time and put in for a bunch of accrued leave.

Or Cisco made a Barry hologram to stand about in his lab while he and Justin do the actual analyses/reporting on the quiet.

Barry is a speedster and a time traveler. It's amazing that he bothers to work with other people in a public setting. He should find some way to work from home or in a private lab; he could do a year's worth of work in less than a week (if not a day).

He should also be training himself to retain his understanding of speed-read material. It seems strange that his brain can understand and utilize speed-read complex theoretical physics equations but that the understanding is only temporary. He may just need more practice gradually reading at faster and faster speeds.

Someone as gregarious as Barry, isolating himself from human contact like that? I don't think so. He's not just his powers.

The idea is that it would free up more of the week to hang with friends and help the community (with or without the costume). Granted, he would probably have to limit his bursts of work (maybe no more than a day's worth of work in one speed session per day) depending upon how he perceives these sped-up periods.

Don't at least some lab analysis take time regardless of how fast the lab worker is?!

Right. It can only go as fast as the machinery, or the chemical reactions, or whatever. The show does often fudge such things, though. (Like in the first Supergirl crossover when Barry got Kara and the others ice cream at superspeed. While that was, of course, utterly adorable, it did raise a bunch of questions about the time it took to dispense the ice cream, whether and how he paid for it, whether Earth-1 currency is even legal on Earth-38, etc.)

True. That's why he should really lean more on theoretical physics and technology. He is supposedly going to invent Gideon (or, at least, purchase and personalize Gideon from a local Apple store) depending upon how you interpret some earlier lines on the show.

Have the producers at all mentioned why (a version of?) Gideon is also (eventually going to be?) aboard the Waverider? It's obviously deliberate, but IIRC the shows themselves have not mentioned the link.

... He should find some way to work from home or in a private lab; he could do a year's worth of work in less than a week (if not a day)....

Some chemical reactions, required for analysis, can not be sped up, however. And he'll be interacting with computers using operating systems and user interfaces designed for human speeds. He might be fast, but Internet ping delays can still hit thousands of milliseconds!

No wonder he invents Gideon. Other interfaces just aren't fast enough!

Oooo! I like that! Has that been established elsewhere?

No idea. We just know that Gideon claims Barry will be its creator. There's some leeway in regard to what Gideon meant (hence my earlier joke about Barry buying and personalizing Gideon from an Apple store).

Barry could set up the experiment in the future and have the results sent back to the past.

Or he could set up the experiment in the past and have the results waiting for him in the present.
