If 3D has been dropped as a gimmick and curved screens are never really practical in a home setting, perhaps the next consumerist push will be for discreet roll-out screens rather than 8K?
More for the gamers among us perhaps and those willing to pay through the nose for the streaming bandwidth required. Even 1080p is supported on only a dozen or so broadcast TV channels in the UK and that number doesn't seem likly to increase if a larger number of SD commercial channels could use the same frequencies.The TV manufacturers could go the VR route.
I think I only paid US$2X for the digital version on Amazon.
