Jodie Whittaker is the 13th Doctor

"They're messing with the character!!!"

If you hate the idea of them messing with the character, you stopped watching after Hartnell left.

No, sorry, they've been "messing with the character" the entire time, and you only complained now because yes, you ARE a sexist asshole.

FYI, a lot of women also object to the idea of a lady Doctor, so you might want to watch that last insult.:vulcan:

Define a lot. Provide evidence. Confirmation Bias (People you know on Facebook/Twitter) is not evidence.

For extra credit discard all white women who voted for Trump.

I have to say, purely anecdotally, I've seen online a fair few women complain about this casting and say that the Doctor should be played only by men. I also agree that women can be sexist and/or misogynistic.

Objections can be a bit more complex than that, as this lady's post proves.
I can understand her reactions in terms of her upbringing and how she has always viewed/related to the character, but I don't agree with the fact she describes "Feminism is being proud and I never related pride as having to shove it down someone else's throat." as the reason for Whitaker's casting.

None of my friends, male or female, are complaining. I really think the ones upset are a noisy minority, like most internet outrages.

To be fair the people you now are bound to think the same as you, just like the people who hate the idea seem to find everyone they know sharing the same opinion.

I'd be factinated to see the results of an actual unbiased (in either direction) survey.

EDIT: Actually here's one. Assuming they have some way of dealing with vote stuffing that's only 15% against.

When this is the level of intelligence on your side, you're really in trouble.

When he complains about Doctor Who "shoving political opinions down peoples throats", I do wonder if he's ever seen (deep breath) The Happiness Patrol, Vengeance On Varos, The Sunmakers, The Green Death, Invasion of the Dinosaurs, Curse/Monster of Peladon, The Dominators etc. etc. etc.

Not a good argument
1. He never took Doctor Who seriously. Remember he originally wanted a kids program
Well, since it *was* a kids program so that's a good thing.
2. He famously thought the Daleks were a stupid idea
Not the first time a creator hasn't cared for something popular with audiences. Has nothing to do with this discussion.

Its also a very simplistic and disingenuous claim.

Sidney Newman didn't want what he called B.E.M (Bug Eye'd Monstors) that were a large part of tv and movie sci-fi at the time and he considered the Daleks the eptamy of the B.E.M.

It's talked about in the "More Than 30years In The TARDIS" documentary video.
