For people curious about the Eaglemoss "Star Trek" graphic novel partworks, Issue #1 arrived in Sydney, Australia, this month. The first hardcover is "Countdown", the prequel tie-in to the 2009 movie, story by Orci & Kurtzman. The first Gold Key story, "The Planet of No Return", appears at the back. Both stories have new explanatory prefaces. $AU 4.95 introductory price.

An accompanying 12-page, glossy brochure promotes the future issues. A set of 50 hardcovers is depicted. If one takes out a subscription, four gifts get scheduled: a command insignia lapel pin; a set of movie poster prints in a collectors' tin; two classic Gold Key covers printed as tin plates; and a pair of steel insignia bookends. Subscriptions can also be upgraded to include four "New Visions" hardcover omnibuses, to arrive over the span of the subscription.
Volume 2 is to be "City of the Edge of Forever", IDW's adaptation of Ellison's original draft script, with #2 of Gold Key as the backup story. $AU 12.99 will be the fortnightly price.
Volume 3 is the TNG story, "Hive" by Brannon Braga, plus another Gold Key.

No, only to the Saavik-backstory elements they have in common. TPP is mainly a movie-era story (between TMP and TWOK) about a Romulan bioweapon attack on Earth, but it features a couple of extended flashbacks to Saavik's origin story. UT is about the year in Saavik's life following The Voyage Home, and also has flashbacks to Saavik's formative years, which are mostly but not entirely compatible with TPP's flashbacks.

I was just notified that 2018's "Ships of the Line" Calendar has arrived Down Under! Is it that time already?

Nic Durham's "ReAction Figures: Unofficial Action Figure Guide, 2013-2016" arrived today! Came with bonus postcards (for preordering), one of which includes a shot with TOS ReAction figures. The book features two pages that cover the eight TOS figures released. Details are on the ReAction Facebook page. Also depicted in the pic is the 2018 "Star Trek: Ships of the Line" calendar.
