Harry Knowles AICN site is hinting that Nick Meyer is writing and possibly producing and directing a Khan project. It was not mentioned if this was meant as a film or a tv project.

They also seem to suggest that there may be more where that comes from including post Nemesis prime time line projects/films. The story suggests that there may be "loads of Trek projects suddenly in production simultaneously or in rapid succession? Wouldn’t it be WILD if these Star Trek projects were set at different points in Federation history, some even far subsequent to Admiral Janeway’s subspace conversation with Captain Picard in “Star Trek: Nemesis”?

Granted their information is very vague, but this could be some pretty exciting news.

I've been expecting this. Seems silly to think CBS would not try and expand their franchise and just settle on one show and put all it's hopes into it. I would love to see Ron Moore return to Trek in one of their future projects and see what he would do as a show runner on a Trek show.

Didn't they say that Discovery itself would possibly cover multiple points in the timeline? (Assumed by some to mean an anthology style format, each season being a new thing.) Or am I remembering incorrectly?

I'm not saying that this new info could tie into that, but I'm also not not saying it.

Not sure how they would do that unless you use time travel or something I would love to see and that is "American Horror Story" concept of using the same actors and new ones every year to tell a new story. When you think about it the title "Discovery" is vague enough to describe any kind of show or setting.

I believe that was Devon Faraci who is known for making up half of what he reports on. He also said it would be set post TUC which of course was completely false.

So far this is just an interesting rumor. I hope there's truth to it, but I'm not betting on it.

AICN? does that even still exist?
    *has a look*

God it actually does too, and as if the name wasn't bad enough it still has that same terrible design that looked awful 15 years ago.

I tend to take AICN in stride. This is the same website that reported William Shatner was the first person signed on to ST09.

Personally, I would love to see something more than Discovery. As is, I will not be watching Discovery--not because I don't want to, but because I don't feel this show alone is enough to get me to order yet another streaming service.

But stuff that deals with familiar characters at different points in Federation history? ESPECIALLY something involving a post-Generations Kirk Prime (see screen name), I'd be game. That said, I'm not holding my breath.

Considering that every Trek series has used time travel, I don't see why Discovery would not use it too at some point. I think it would be really cool if the Discovery ship were thrown into the future and meets up with the Ent-D for example. It would be a neat way of creating that sense of continuity, that Discovery does indeed take place in the prime timeline of TOS and TNG.

Did Enterprise use time travel? I guess technically, the Borg, but that was more of a First Contact reference.

As far as I know, Kirk and crew were the first human time travelers in Naked Time.

Enterprise used time travel. In the 2 parter, "Shockwave", Archer is trapped in the 31st century. And in the 2 parter, "Storm Front", the Enterprise goes back to an alternate timeline of 1944.

I wouldn't count the temporal cold war, since it was people from the future traveling to Archer's time.

I don't remember the other two examples--been a long time since I saw them.

We know he's working on something. We just don't know what it is yet. We also don't know the likelihood of it actually getting produced is.

I am kind of reminded of Kenneth Johnson as far as Nick's career trajectory. There is a certain amount of ageism in Hollywood and when you get to these guys' ages they tend to get used in a very limited capacity and they can't execute their dream projects. But they tend to talk about it on social networks anyway (Kenneth Johnson wanted to continue the original V rather than see it bastardized into right-wing propaganda).

And Archer (and T'Pol) went back to 2004 in "Carpenter Street"

I think it might work if in terms of seeing the 24th century but I think a argument can be made that the more we see of old familiar characters the harder it will be for people to see the show as being in the prime universe since you would have to recast everyone. I think you could show a few at most and I also think it wouldn't hurt if you showed a pre or post Enterprise Picard as a example as oposed to one who is basically still in the midde of the adventures he is having on his show.

What I think what they're planing to work on beside Star Trek Discover. Are The Eugenics War, The Romulan War, StarFleet Academy and another one with the Enterprise in it, Maybe others I can't think of?

If Meyer is in charge I could even see a post "Undiscovered Country" movie. Maybe something with the Enterprise B or C. I mean this is the timeframe in which is most familar with. Maybe we will finally get that George Takei, captain Sulu series or movie we have all been waiting for.:)

I really hate these sites which take one line of an interview and spin it into wild speculation with clickbait titles.

It's how we got all those articles about how Discovery was set post-TUC.

The worst bit is that they then start linking to and building on each other's speculation to try to add substance to something which was flimsy to begin with.

We got one mention of Meyer being involved in a Trek project which is unrelated to Discovery - quite possibly yet another re-release of one of his cash-cow films - and all of a sudden it's being turned into a whole series of Trek productions which would have been ambitious at Trek's peak, let alone now.
