I've watched Silent Enemy, and Minefield & Dead Stop, and I was just wondering if there were any other Season one or two episodes of Enterprise I should watch before I start A Choice of Futures.

I'm not sure what my question about Storming Heaven has to do with Rise of the Federation and the first two seasons of Ent.

Precisely. Which is why, even though I got your point when you posted, I let it pass. Because that's what your namesake will have wanted one day centuries from now. ;-)

 

Oh, now I see. Sorry about that. I thought you were trying to tell me what Enterprise episodes to watch, and I didn't get it.

 

I just started reading The Light Fantastic and I was just wondering if there are any episodes I should rewatch to go along with it, besides the Moriarty episodes and The Offspring?

 

^ There's a tie-in to a TOS episode, but telling you which one would spoil a couple of surprises.

The Captain's Daughter, besides Generations, it references things from all 6 TOS movies. I don't recall it mentioning much from the TOS-TAS era, except for maybe the last episodes of TAS, however the flashbacks do start just before TMP. I think Peter David was assuming that Demora was maybe 22-23 in Generations (which I think wa set in 2293), so he might've been assuming Demora's birth around 2270-71.

 

I've got a whole bunch of TMP era stuff I haven't read, and I was wondering if it matters which version of I watched before reading.
I've got Ex Machina, Forgotten History, Marvel Comic's Untold Voyages, and IDW's Leonard McCoy: Frontier Doctor.

 

Please tell me it's literally nineteen empty pages with the final page saying "We told you so!"

 

I wrote Ex Machina with the assumption that the Director's Edition was the correct version, although in a chapter heading I quoted a line of Will Decker's that was only in the Special Longer Version, I think. (I didn't realize at the time that it wasn't in the DE.)

Overall, though, I don't think it matters which version you watch for any of those. The differences between the versions don't change that much, just include or leave out different bits. Indeed, Frontier Doctor doesn't quite fit with any version of TMP, because it depicts Kirk taking a hands-on role in the Enterprise refit, while TMP established (as a pretty important plot point) that he was unfamiliar with the capabilities of the redesign. (Although maybe there's a way to reconcile it that I haven't thought of.)

 

OK, I'll probably go with the Director's Edition then, last time I watched that version I enjoyed it a lot more than I had in the past.

 

Its been over a decade since I read them, but I seem to recall that A Flag Full Of Stars and the other Lost Years novels had Kirk as the Admiral in charge of the refit, and while he was on Earth, he was still the one that Decker and the rest of the Enterprise-refit crew had to report to. So while he may not have been hands-on with the refit, he was still in charge.
