Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

But speaking of First Flight, seems a shame they reference the Warp 2 & 3 barrier from that episode, the Warp 5 barrier from the NX-01 obviously, but there's no mention of the Franklin and Warp 4 barrier. Would have been another nice link for them to connect.

I think that they might just be keeping the Prime timeline and Kelvin timeline separate completely, so they won't mention the Franklin in any regular issue's articles. While the Franklin did come before the Daedalus class, it has only appeared in the Kelvin timeline movies, no mention of or reference to it in the original timeline.

So I'll be in London at the end of the month and I'm planning on buying a few models to send home as It'll work out to be cheaper and easier. Any advice on where to look?

But anything that's mentioned as happened before the Kelvin incident in 2233 is the same timeline for both. Unless you just wanna ignore the "NuTrek" movies all together. Which I don't really like the first two of anyway so whatever.

But in terms of lisencing it's lumped in with everything else in NuTrek. I thought the reason they only did the special edition NuTrek models is because they weren't allowed to use them in the general collection?

They're not allowed to make them at the normal issue size because someone else (I can't remember the company) already have the rights to make them at that size. So they just have to be bigger.

Just a quick heads up: Irishtrekkie and a lot of the notable online reviewers are doing an online podcast together in honor of 100 issues right now:

If I were to start a subscription now, would it start from the beginning? In other words, would I get the Refit and Reliant?

It would start at the beginning, which would be the Enterprise D and refit enterprise I believe.

I just got an email stating my next two ships were on the way, but it listed the Rhode Island and borgified transport, I thought the next set in the US were the remastered orion ship and the academy trainer?

Interesting. I just got an email saying the large size TOS Enterprise is going to be shipped to me at the end of the month as a special. Now, I thought it was a "shop exclusive" which is why I bought it separately a couple months back. Now it's a subscriber special? Does anyone know if there is an official list of all special releases so I don't get double tapped or have to cancel things individually? Are the oversized E-D and E-E also going to be subscriber specials? Really confused now.

I got the same email back in April & like you I had bought from the shop. I had to call & cancel it.

I was under the impression the jumbo ships were outside the subscription too. However, I never got the Jellyfish sent to me & ended up buying that in the shop. Now I'm wondering about the Franklin.

The Orion and Academy Trainer were last months shipment. I should be receiving the Rhode Island and Borgified Transport on Monday according to the shipping email. I also just received the email stating that the Franklin will be shipping to me at the end of the month. No emails about the jumbo TOS-E and I also bought mine earlier this year straight from the Eaglemoss shop.

I guess I gotta call Eaglemoss again; this time in regards to the fact instead of the Franklin special I was expecting I am instead receiving the wumbo TOS-E. I'm still missing the 4 other ships from the regular issues too. Due to the way I've been jacked around this last few months, I'm probably going to get the Academy Flight Trainer and USS Rhode Island next month instead of the first two I'm missing.

Wha...? Last month I got the Suliban Cell ship and New Orleans Class. Am I behind everyone else?

I got the email for the big E right after I posted last. I already sent an email cancelling but didn't think to ask about the Franklin.

Good Christ!!!

So I've been on-and-off-and-on hold with Eaglemoss. The person I'm talking to doesn't know the difference between a Shop Exclusive! I mentioned that the TOS-E is listed as a "Shop Exclusive", and not a "Special Edition".

Further, she tells me that Special Edition shipments are "random" and don't get sent in any particular order. I asked about the Franklin in this same bit, and she didn't know if the Franklin was considered a Special Edition or not, even though it clearly says it on the website and subscribers in the UK have already been receiving the damn things!

Further beyond that, there's apparently a "Platinum Subscription", which I've never heard of, which almost sounds like the Standard Subscription with all specials opted-in, like what I have. I say "sounds like", because after I asked her several times what the difference is between the two types, and she was completely incapable of answering that (and other) questions clearly.

I hate getting irate at customer service reps, but when it's like talking to a brick fucking wall, with a little condescension and attitude thrown in on their part (they clearly think they're explaining everything perfectly) it gets extremely disturbing how quickly things escalate.

I've been on the phone now for 37 minutes. Of that time, about 75% is being on hold, and this most recent hold has been over 10 minutes now. I wonder if she thinks I'm just going to get tired and hang up. She's wrong, but I don't have time for this shit!

Update - after 20 minutes of being on hold I got a "floor supervisor" who NOW tells me that all "Shop Exclusives" and "Limited Editions" are considered specials! WTF?!?!? That totally undermines and violates the definition of "special" vs "exclusive"!! That means eventually everyone who opted in to all specials is going to get everything listed as "Shop Exclusives" and "Limited Editions". I don't believe it. I asked her to verify that, because if it's true, they're in for a PR nightmare when all the unhappy subscribers get double-tapped for having already purchased things that were never supposed to be a part of the subscription.

At least this one is much friendlier and actually seemed to understand my problem with all this. I haven't even gotten to the missing issues 88 & 89 yet!

I'm on hold again. Total call time 58 minutes 49 seconds. Had to plug the phone in.

This is very bad.

You have every right to be frustrated and angry. So much for Eaglemoss' customer service. :brickwall:

I should have kept it on emails. I've always gotten better results than direct phone calls.

Another Update: I have completely stumped the Floor Supervisor. She said that, if I've opted in to all specials, I will receive ALL Shop Exclusives and Limited Edition items. And yet, the TOS 11-inch Enterprise is the FIRST time this has ever been the case and I've had to purchase all Exclusives and LE's separately, outside of the subscription, since the very beginning of when subscriptions were made available.

Something's changed - someone set a new policy and a lot of people are gonna be pissed when they get double-tapped, thinking they had to get it separately as an "exclusive", only to get it again as a "special".

Now she's saying it's something going on at the warehouse. She's forwarding my information on and I might get a call tomorrow.

I didn't even get into the whole "Platinum Subscription" bullshit.

Ugh...what a nightmare. This is, by far, the worst experience I've had with Eaglemoss. Such a shame, such a good product

At least I got a release date for 88 & 89 (Vahklass & E-J): June 25!

Jesus - I was on the phone about this for 1:14:50. Way too long. Glad it was an 800 number and don't have usage charges.
