What the hell? My dog looks up all the time, she watches and chases birds flying overhead, and she watches the ceiling fan spin. Is this really a debate? I know there's the whole question about whether or not they can see color, but I've never heard of this one before.

Oh yes, because Paul's work with Wings was so incredibly deep. "Somebody's knockin' at the door, somebody's ringin' the bell. Do me a favor, open the door, and let him in". You can't get much more Mensa-like than that.
