Kelvin Timeline all but confirmed

We've seen some great authors write entire great novels set in the past in the Prime timeline despite the constraints of the timeline. cough . . Eugenics Wars . . . cough.

I think there is plenty of wiggle room for great stories that don't need to violate anything.

We haven't seen any stories yet. So DSC is violation free at this point.

Couldn't it be possible that any significant pieces will burn up in the atmosphere?
Are you saying Borg Debris CAN'T 'adapt' to atmospheric re-entry? ;)

Seriously though, since the Sphere clearly was not atomized; it stands to reason there would be parts that made it to the ground. Given Borg armor, the same could be said for Borg bodies.

Some, unlikely they all would some are large and borg themselves have shielding. I really do not see how something would not have survived. We have had much smaller bits of space junk survive reentry.

Obviously it's Modified Prime timeline, at best. Maybe the same basic sequence of events, but with female Captains, better tech, sets, etc. The uniforms and Klingons didn't need to be changed that much, but some reimagining can still mean more or less Prime timeline. There might be some in story explanations. A very particular offshoot of Klingons. Maybe the TOS Pike uniforms are about to be adopted. We'll see.

I think we don't have to listen to the words of Janice Lester on the captains thing. Most people accept she was nuts, it was a bad episode that's better ignored, and her words had room for interpretation...she wasn't jealous of Kirk for being a captain, she was jealous of his carter because it meant he didn't focus on a relationship with her that sort of thing. The tech just looks different...looking advanced and actually being advanced is a choice of aesthetics. You can get horribly fake 1940s style wood panelled stereo systems....that record straight to SD card in lossless digital format from those ancient 78 platters put on its turntable. It looks ancient, but is technically advanced. TOS era was just going through a 1970s fairground chic revival.

Even if we don't buy, "Discovery" existing around the same time as "TOS" does it look better if we pretend that it's in the same visual universe as the TOS movies,TNG,DS9, Voyager and Enterprise? That means "TOS" as seen is actually in a third universe, yet the events that happened in them also tended to happen in the Prime universe as well but with things just looking different. I know this presents problems because of "Relics""Trials and Tribulations" and the mirror universe story on "Enterprise" but I am sure someone can find away to explain those things away.

Yeah, Janice Lester's comment makes zero sense and probably should be attributed to her mental health than factual reality.

Do you think we should do that? All get together and pretend bits here and there? As long as we all pretend on agreed bits?

I'm not quite sure why all this arguing over the Discovery timeline. you can't compare the look to TOS, TOS was made in the 60's with what was available at the time. Of course Discovery isn't going to look like that. If TOS were made with all the FX advances it would look different too. I'm still going to wait for news when the start date is and watch and see where things go from there.

There you go being all reasonable and stuff.
