Thoughts on Discovery Starfleet Uniforms (Trailer Edition)

It's always possible that the Shenzhou/Discovery's split delta insignia has some significance, that they're part of some separate Starfleet branch (weren't people saying NCC-1031 meant Section 31 months ago?) with their own uniforms and equipment.
Elsewhere the rest of Starfleet might be in some Kelvinish modernised TOS jammies and wearing a whole delta shield.

Or inbetween the 2230s and mid 2250s, these DSC uniforms were used, and then the TOS uniform variants came in. First more like Pikes (mid 2250s) and then the tweaked Kirk era versions. The short shelf life of the TMP uniforms shows us that Starfleet uniforms don't always last that long. I suspect however that like the Klingons, the uniform changes are a "reimagination", and will not necessarily be made fit by TPTB with what was seen in the existing timelines.

That would be a nice explanation.... and would fit with the idea that under the Monster Maroons, there may have been a more traditional uniform as well. I believe that is the concept that Project Potemkin went with, no?
So why does Starfleet change their uniforms so rapidly and radically all the time.
Maybe every Chief of Starfleet admiral has the privilege to instate uniforms according to his wishes and preferences.
And every time a new one is appointed the entire Starfleet changes clothes with him/her.
We know from TNG how particular the admirality is with their own uniforms.
That would explain how just in a few years they burn through a total of five uniform styles and then keep the same basic one for 60 years!

Because the Federation is a utopia, arguing over official uniforms is the only thing left to do in the Federation Council.
Have you actually *looked* at the uniforms? There are three division colors – almost the same that were used in “The Cage” – and rank has its place on the badge. And I fail to see what's uninspiring about the blue color. To me it screams “futuristic uniform” and “elegance”. Some have also noted that the uniforms are reminiscent of tracksuits, which is also rather fitting in my eyes. After all these people got a lot of running and jumping around to do in the line of their Starfleet service.
Good thing no one forces you to watch.

It has a few hints of retro-futurism to me.
Space Navy uniforms with metallic decoration are retro-futuristic, for sure.
It's like Star Trek Online, each captain gets to create-a-uniform!
Zap Brannigan is already wearing those (without the pants)Or the Discovery uniforms, in Maroon?
Especially the shoulders, at least to me.
