I think it's interesting that what you're saying boils down to Roddenberry being more interested in what he thought would be realistic use of the stations (though I agree with @CorporalCaptain about leaving Tactical unmanned except at General Quarters) , rather than what would play best for the cameras and the demands of actors who will always want more screen time. It's telling about the man and his connection with Trek - and kind of contradicts the suggestions I've sometimes seen that he was mostly about the money and merch. (Admittedly, the whole thing with the IDIC medallion makes a pretty compelling argument for the people who say that - but maybe he just needed money for a specific purpose at that point in his life? Or maybe it wasn't even about the money and he just wanted to see people walking around with a symbol of that ideal around their necks?

That's why I included the MDBG link with the audio pronunciation. If we want to get really pedantic, it's more "shuhn-CHJO", with the first syllable lengthened in a descending tone, & the second sharp & short in a flattened high tone.
All of his has me wondering if it's going to be Anglicized all around, not at all, or if only Michelle Yeoh (who's fluent in Mandarin & Cantonese) will be the one using the correct pronunciation.
I just assumed the people who actually made the models gave them to them.

Also, I think she visually fits nicely between ENT and the TOS-movies. And by extension, also TOS itself. Starships from each era are allowed to have widely different looks in my book, if they are designed for a widely different mission spectrum. An F-35 jet looks widely different than an A-10 warthog or a B52-bomber, even though all of them are planes currently in service in the U.S. Airforce.
The TOS-Enterprise is the shiny flagship to show around. This seems to be the muddy workhorse.

I added a few retro touches that I think really go a long way in making Discovery look more Star Trek. What do you think? Feel free to add your own changes.
Love the color change to the LCARS! The panels now really emote that TOS color feel while looking like new tech that fits how things function today. Feel the uniforms coloring looks off (I prefer the current all dark blue with the metallic division colors). Maybe keep the uniforms the dark blue, change the color to how you have it now, and give them sleeve rank stripes that fix the metallic division colors. Maybe the upper deck lights should also be red like the pillar light to completely change the lighting mood on the bridge versus the current lighting clash. All in all I love what you did to the image. I definitely feels more retro.

Also noticed some relationships the Shenzhou has with the ECS Horizon Eaves designed also including that bronze deflector dish, and maybe the validation of windows on the bridge/command deck.

Exactly. The classic Constitution class is sleek, smooth, streamlined, elegant and graceful; the best of the best of the fleet and obviously more advanced than the rough industrial designs covered in greebles that we see here.
This series isn't focused on the top of the line such as the TOS Enterprise. It's more about the "lower decks" of the whole fleet, focused on the workhorses such as the Shenzhou and the Discovery. There is room for a great range of design within Starfleet.

Yes, but I would find it very hard to believe that this person did not get the Ok from someone. The people who made the models do not own their work. Considering they also have the Battlestar Galactica assets, the list of people is quite small.
