Blade Runner 2

Looks pretty but seems to be heading for an action film.

Don't forget though- trailers are marketed for mass-audience appeal. I doubt very much that this is an explosions and bang bang pew pew movie.

I was surprised by how much Harrison Ford there is in the trailer, since it's been said that Deckard is only appearing in the film's third act. If true, then we've seen a perhaps surprising amount of the film's climax in the trailer.

It feels good to have a real high-quality genre movie on the verge of release.

The music sounds like evil Vangelis. Love it.

If I had to guess at the "final revelation" of BR2049, I'd say this:

The human race is completely extinct and everyone left on Earth is a replicant.

I think this is likely. Which will work well for this film, not so great for the first.

Sure, I understand. But I also think a lot of the nostalgia driven audiences are expecting something along the same tone of the first film. Hard to appeal to both.

With BR it's practically one-hundred percent nostalgia driven audiences, the film influenced the sub-genre in which it's sequel will be to such a large extent. Every cyberpunk fil is already compared to BR, so it's own sequel has to fill those shoes .

Hopefully, like the original, BR2 is its "own thing," with plenty of good thrills and action combined with some incredible, thought-provoking stuff. Given the history of the creative team behind the film...I am banking on it!

That trailer seems to suggest to me that Ford will be more 1st act and inciting moment. If, as you say, Deckard only appearing in 3rd act, I'd be concerned too.

It's what Ridley Scott has said:

Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it’s about finding him; he comes in in the third act.

That, of course, was two years ago and Hampton Fancher's story was still in development. It's possible that the story was rejiggered to bring Deckard in earlier.

Given the likelihood of the date being a grave marker, I really hope we don't get a flashback to the storyboarded 'Deckard shoots Rachael' ending. I am worried enough about the retrospective changes to BRs narrative. XD

That would contradict the voice-over ending. ;)

No, seriously, I'm thinking that Rachael's time just ran out.

But it seems like this sequel is dealing with the uncut version, not the original.
