Anyone who thinks shows just happen is deluding themselves. There things that are organic but they're pretty rare.
Good question. What's the cast ratio on Supergirl?
The patriarchy...Why is this always the default?

I do that all the time. I have a spouse who writes fan fiction.I'm sure there are some exceptions. But what annoys me so much is that Trek has always been utter shit about this. And this was the chance to finally fix it... yet I'm not seeing it.
We might still be wrong but given the cast announcement it really looks like there will be double as many male characters compared to female characters. I just don't get why it can't be even or actually the other way around just once.
Why is this always the default? It's like they have to go out of their way to add female characters.
When I watch a movie or a TV show I sometimes do this little game in my mind, imagining what the show would look like if all the character genders were switched. Go ahead and try that once in a while.
yep me to.I do that all the time. I have a spouse who writes fan fiction.
Sounds rightProbably about fifty/fifty although I'm behind on the show. I can think of three main cast guys and three women off the top of my head. It is notable for having more than one "strong female character", and not having them hate each other for no reason, or compete for the affections of the same man.
Or Crosby. You know, by not giving them enough to do so they quit.@{ Emilia } you're correct. I guess I should have said it's a mere step in the right direction and disappointing they didn't do more.
I really hope they don't treat the women the way Sirtis was on TNG.
Or Crosby. You know, by not giving them enough to do so they quit.
Try doing that with a war movie set on a battle shipWomen are roughly 51% of the population (I think). Every single show and movie should reflect that.
It depends on how the movie is structured. It's rare that a movie is limited to one time and one location.Try doing that with a war movie set on a battle ship
Make a movie about women's experiences as a minority in a heavily macho military?Try doing that with a war movie set on a battle ship
Would work with the Gulf wars not so much the World WarsMake a movie about women's experiences as a minority in a heavily macho military?
