CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I thought that the equipment was donated by a LA tech company - they mentioned the name of it again in the latest Axanar podcast

Other World Computing I think. I did find the reference I was remembering and edited in the link in the post just above yours

Ah. And thanks for the heads-up about them also being mentioned in the latest podcast. I just listened to the relevant part.

Other World Computing donated $20,000 worth of computers to the production.

The defendant wrote the following on the production site on April 13, 2017:
"Danny will keep the Industry Studios name, website and even some of the personnel for on-site management."
Have we been told who these "personnel" are?

Interesting that AP mentioned shooting the two 15-minute greenscreen segments at the now defunct Warehouse-Not-A Studio.

I seriously doubt that it will happen, but it is interesting.

Probably just to keep stringing along the donors who paid for it.

Two legal questions:

1) If Axanar violates the terms of the settlement enough that CBS calls him on it, does the ruling made in California still hold up now that he's in Georgia?

2) Should Mr. Peters do something else that gets him sued (say, start fund raising for a Battlestar "fan-film" the same way he did Axanar), would the trial be in California or Georgia? And if in Georgia, are the judges there familiar with movie copyright law?

It's not even close to being over. Not even close. :techman:

Lazarus: Who are you, what race defeats a power as dark as Ignis?

Lady Diane: We have walked among even your people, light does not defeat darkness, only keeps it in balance. All things evil dwell in the darkness and the darkness of the mind, it is the way of things. Even the entity known as Ignis will condense and return in time.

1) Yes.

2) Depends, as venue/jurisdiction would depend on things like the corporate location for the BSG (for example) IP holder(s) or the location of the infringement(s) or AP's residence or the location of the company/auspices under which the infringement(s) occurred.

Hypothetically, if an infringement occurred, couldn't the IP owner file suit in whatever court's jurisdiction the alleged infringement took place? Hypothetically, of course. ;)

No RMB did not relocate nor did he help load or unload.

The editing equipment was rented.

Ms. Kingsbury has had Rocketworx listed for over 6 months......and NO she has not relocated.

And no LFIM has not relocated.

So if everyone is still in LA, is there anyone working at the new warehouse/studio? Will he need to find a new crew of dupes? Surely there is no money to PAY employees...

The Atlanta area has pretty good resources to create a fan film. I do see some friendly faces on Alec's new page and I hope they are treated right.

Has rmb physically relocated to Georgia?

Ms. Kingsbury is listed as Producer at Rocketworx. Did Ms. Kingsbury relocate to Georgia?

For that matter, has the defendant relocated to Georgia?

Surely not.

My question is 'why' are they still in LA?

I mean, except for rmb because, great or small, he 'is' part of Hollywood. He 'works' there. Right?

But, why are the defendant and Ms. Kingsbury there? Their work is Rocketworx, right? Why are 'they' in LA?

L.A. probably has better Sushi places then Georgia. ;)
Well, you know that's right. :)

And aside from that I'm still having all these questions about industries studio.
If I remembering correctly about what @carlosp's found document registering it, was it in Nevada, industry studios is registered or owned or some legal something to the defendant. (I may be remembering it wrong, so there's that)

I've not seen anything documenting a change in ownership on that studio. And (I'm just guessing here) if something is legally registered to some 'one'.... it can't just be handed over even in lieu of stuff in exchange for monies due without some legal something written up and legally filed.

So I 'get' that the build-out would be an acceptable 'compensation' to landlordDanny in exchange for being let out of the lease. With no documentation needed.

What I'm still questioning is that the registered industry studios has been legally transferred from the defendant to landlordDanny. And that the defendant and bawden are really out of it at all.

And at this time I'm drawing a line between -- the defendant having not relocated to Georgia (at least yet) and -- these 'some' production personnel who are going to be on-site management and -- no documentation that I've seen showing and actual transfer of the studio to landlordDanny -- and for some reason that green screen -- and where is that editing bay is currently located -- and what Ms. Kingsbury is doing for Rocketworx, and quite possibly, at least to me, industry studios too.

Why would production personnel be on-site management? Who in this production is trained in on-site management? What does on-site management do? Are they being paid? Why would they do this if they aren't being paid? Why are they doing this for landlordDanny if they aren't being paid? Why would landlordDanny have unpaid on-site management personnel from a production company that isn't there anymore doing this? This man is a business man. Which by definition is doing business to make money.

The production company has now had two years to show the personnel is not adept at bringing in fan film productions to cover the rent much less make money. Nor any other type filming. Why would landlordDanny choose them? And is 'he' paying them?

I consider it all of it to be suspect at this time.

I continue speculate until I learn something different, this is a Plan. And the Plan includes an industries studios partnership between (at least) the defendant, bawden, and landlordDanny. landlordDanny provides the physical property he inherited because they couldn't pay the astronomical rent. The defendant retains at least partial ownership in industry studios. And bawden will bring in clients.
