CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I'm interested in what the truck-unloading volunteers might report about what was actually moved to Rocketland.
LFIM has posted videos of the unloading and the first thing they did? Assemble the half finished bridge set entirely. Now if he says they aren't even going to be used, then why go to the trouble of putting them together and taking up 1/4 of your new "studio" floor? I seriously think the warehouse is just Alec's playhouse for toys and props.

  • And now, after the elusive pair of 15 minute films are made (without any cash, so expect to see a fundraising plea in your inbox soon if it's not already there), you will get 'control' of Axanar.
  • Which AP never had control of anyway, seeing as it's derivative of CBS/Paramount intellectual property.
  • So he can't give you control over it. So he isn't giving you anything.
  • And there is no 'canon', save for what the IP holders have created.
  • And being able to make your own Axanar fan film or fanfiction or audio drama has always been within your purview (with any fan film now being subject to the guidelines, of course)?
Isolated to slam the point home.

PREACH, SISTAH!

I know for a fact that AP had an offer in LA to buy his bridge before he moved it; he wouldn't even entertain an offer. Makes me wonder what the real plan is. I don't think even he is stupid enough to have an attraction which would most certainly catch the eye of CBS. Besides as someone noted already the bridge is no where near complete. They have completed the easy stuff but have none of the details or electronics needed to complete it.

Yup---did not even want to entertain the thought. He IS up to something..........

END OF AXANAR In his newest Donor Update, Alec Peters says he's turning Axanar over to the fans once the two 15-min. Axanar episodes are complete.

"Once this has been accomplished, Axanar Productions will close down," Peters wrote donors. "So while you won't be able to get Axanar merchandise from us anymore, or have us create any more of the Axanar story beyond our two, 15-minute episodes, we want Axanar to thrive in the fan community."

That appears to put an end to Peters' earlier plans for an Axanar graphic novel, audio drama and other platforms not affected by CBS' fan film guidelines.

It appears that if fans want those things, they'll have to produce them themselves.

"We want fans to help carry the banner of Axanar and what it represents into our shared future," Peters told donors.

Also thrown into question is whether Peters will still seek federal nonprofit status. The avowed promise of the charitable organization — helping other filmmakers — appears to be back in the hands of another for-profit company, this time in Georgia.

The nonprofit application supposedly was to be for Axanar Productions, which Peters now says is shutting down after the two episodes are released.

Yeah, I laughed hard when I saw that e-mail (Gotta love Mr. peters organization as he vocally refunded my $75 many months ago, yet somehow I'm still on his Axanar pledge e-mail list and get his 'donor updates' still - even after he sent a final e-mail to me screaming...BLOCKED!:rofl:). What happened to ALL the other 'Axanar' related projects he was touting (like Axanar audio dramas and fan fiction his group was going to create to 'satisfy backers'? Also, HOW can you 'give the fans' something YOU NEVER OWNED OR HAD ANY LEGAL COPYRIGHT TO?:crazy::rommie:

I have a feeling someone received a notification from CBS/Paramount reminding Alec Peters of the ACTUAL settlement terms; and he finally got it though his over sized ego that continuing to promote himself and crowdfund projects USING his Axanar history would cause a legal department to invoke the 'in violation' clause - so Mr. Peters the self-professed Star Trek 'Superfan' is finally going - "Okay, I'm SURE all my backers support me - so I can move on and still get a boatload of money for my "original" science fiction based IP..."

Yeah, he might want to speak to David Gerrold about how well that will probably go (link)

Hopefully he'll get RMB to spend maybe a day in his edit bay to take pieces of the "Origins" short; (filmed years ago) - combine it with the 15 minutes of 'finished Axanar VFX footage from Tobias Richter - and get whatever voice over J.G. Hertzler is wiling to do (probably over Skype because who needs a soundproofed booth, right?); the professional actor who somehow still believes Alec Peters is still an honest person doing Axanar because he LOVES Star Trek; :wtf::barf: and finish this Axanar debacle and move on to his next crowdfunding con attempt.

Time will tell.

finish this Axanar debacle
well, about that:
ONCE THE MOVE IS DONE, THE AXANAR SCRIPT MOVES TO THE FRONT BURNER – The lawsuit settled in mid-January…so where’s the script??? After all, it’s been over three months now! Well, it’s hard to write a script when you’re trying to figure out how to save hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of sets from ending up in the dumpster. But with the move nearly completed, Alec said he intends to sit down with Bill Hunt and Robert Meyer Burnett and start to hammer out what this two-part fan film will finally be. It’s not like they can take the 90-minute feature script that exists and simply toss away 60 pages. The new script has to be written from scratch. Then it needs to be budgeted, funds need to be raised privately (not through a crowd-funder), make-up and costuming figured out, visual FX story-boarded and generated, music composed and recorded, the footage edited, sound added, levels adjusted, etc. In other words, anyone expecting to see a completed Axanar fan film in the next few months doesn’t understand the process. But yes, that script is now going to be the focus for Alec, and thus begins the mission…again!

But of course:
THE SETS PROBABLY WON’T BE USED FOR AXANAR – As I mentioned above, and as Alec has discussed elsewhere, the reduction in scope of the Axanar fan film has made the use of the sets for that production unlikely. Yes, Alec would still like to use the bridge to film some flashback scenes, but that’s really going to depend on what the script ends up looking like (more on that in a moment). But plans now call for the two 15-minute part fan film to be done in the mockumentary style of Prelude, with actors filmed mainly in front of green screens (most likely at Industry Studios in Valencia). However, the sets in Lawrenceville can and will be used for other fan and independent sci-fi projects.

I think he mentioned (or maybe Lane did) that they already own the various electronics etc that were to be housing in that Bridge carcass - so in fact finishing the Bridge set may be on his to-do list...

Has rmb physically relocated to Georgia?

Was the editing equipment relocated to Georgia?

Ms. Kingsbury is listed as Producer at Rocketworx. Did Ms. Kingsbury relocate to Georgia?

For that matter, has the defendant relocated to Georgia?

If it is true he should have sold the bridge set and put the money into his two 15 minute episodes of Axanar. If he is not using it for Axanar at least he could have recovered some of the money donated by the fans to build the darn thing. Plus he would have saved money transporting the bridge to Atlanta. I have a feeling he kept the bridge because he wants it for his next scheme.

No RMB did not relocate nor did he help load or unload.

The editing equipment was rented.

Ms. Kingsbury has had Rocketworx listed for over 6 months......and NO she has not relocated.

And no LFIM has not relocated.

Huh. I currently find that data to be interesting. Thanks @KennyB

(I may be incorrect but I'm 'pretty sure' the equipment itself is stated to be on loan. I'm trying to locate the podcast and vlog or something where I heard the defendant & rmb talk about this, to confirm or refute the accuracy of my memory on it)

EDIT: Other World Computing is what I'm remembering. The defendant's captn log = http://www.axanarproductions.com/captains-log-jan-28th-2016/

EDIT EDIT: Thanks to @Mytran for posting this is also referenced in the latest podcast from the defendant (#45 - at about 00:40)
