News Star Trek: Discovery Set Photos

Bridge sets views from an electrician's point of view. Rear side of a console and lighting rigs above the whole stage. Daren't show the fantasy because of all the darn canon violations obviously. Well that and sponsored by Samsung product placement on all the surveillance monitors. :D

I like this set...! It's exciting!

...No? N- Okay, i'll be over there... *shakes head*

As someone who works in theatre, those pics are as generic as you can get for set shots. He must think Trekkers will salivate over anything.

HE is actually excited and is literally showing everything that's allowed. Most of the people working on the show would love to show you every step of the process, but network TV just isn't at that "Instructables/Patreon/Kickstarter" level of interaction. Eventually I think they will have to get there.

In the early years of the Doctor Who revival, they had a "WhoSpy" daily post of very similar pictures on set - really not showing anything, at least at the beginning. I'm guessing they're doing exactly that here, and as we draw closer to the airdate (whenever THAT is), we'll start seeing some more specific, more telling, more CBS-approved stuff.

At least it shows us that they're finally doing actual work, so maybe we can look forward to the show premiering as expected instead of being delayed yet again.

Yeah, these shots are pretty generic, but I also don't think you can expect more than this from a show that just started shooting it's second episode and is still 6-ish months away from premiere. I don't even really want to see much more at this point. Let the anticipation keep building!

The Locations sticker on one of them got me thinking about how it will be interesting to see how the planet exteriors feel on the first Trek series produced outside of California. I recently moved to Southern California, after previously living only in harsh-ferocious-winter climates, and I'm amused by how often my new surroundings remind me of Star Trek planets. As a kid it felt so alien and foreign... and now I see it was just California.

Sooo, I live really close to Pinewood studios.
I feel like I should be taking steps to check things out.

I've never done anything like that before.
Guess I should rent a telephoto lens, or plan some elaborate social engineering strategy?

I prefer it that way. I want to be surprised. It is a series, not a movie with two hours. I want appreciate each episode. I know something about the plot, characters, ships. That's enough. A trailer is coming soon. The best thing to do is contain our excitement.
