Hood-class battlecruiser TOS concept design

Thanks all!
The model has been in the early stages of paint work now that the major assemblies are now all One. Following a complete re-prime and spray of the base color, the ship was roughly airbrushed in a dark gray pre-shade to accent the detail and panel lines. This is then over coated in a thinned mixture of the base color to fade this to a very subtle hint. This helps in the scale of the ship while maintaining a fresh-from-drydock finish.

Very nice, though I'm still not sure what the saucer bulge makes me feel.

Also, where/how did you get parts for this?

I'm not sure what that makes you feel either.

The Hood is a modified 1:350 E kit. I custom fabricated my own parts for this design.

^^^ Me too, although for a second there, my heart stopped, as I thought this was going to look like a recreation of the last "restoration" over-weathered paint job the TOS-E suffered prior to the most recent Smithsonian upgrade! Fortunately, I'm familiar with AdmiralBuck's other projects and knew he wasn't going to leave it like that.

Wow. Amazing modeling work. She seems to almost speak with a TOS voice, with a dash of FJ thrown in maybe.

Your model could have been an alternative TMP refit.

Can't wait to see the finished product.

Will Hood have the same armament as Enterprise, or superior?

As a battlecruiser, Hood is designed more for defensive encounters than exploration. With twin torpedo tubes fore and aft, and nine pairs of phaser turrets, she has a little more punch than the standard Constitution-class.

Here's a construction image of her lower primary emplacements:

The FJ version has 6 emplacement (3 double turrets) and two photorps. The Kimble refit has 18 phasers in 6 double turrets and 6 single turrets, and two photorps. So this TOS era ship already outguns the refit movie-era ship in numbers of weapons.

Custom printed nacelle end caps and bussard domes have arrived. Work continues on painting the end caps and tinting the outer domes, installing the motors and LED rings for the bussard caps. An inner dome is frosted and will clad be with aluminum painted vanes.

Hood is seen here in lighting test alongside 1:350 scale Archer-Class, Tauriel.
