Here you go, maybe he was misquoted or maybe he's mellowed :-)Fair enough, but in my defense, I didn't know that about Simm.

All of that sounds pretty reasonable. Like Eccleston, Simm appears to love the work but prefers to stay private and doesn't enjoy the glamour. I don't think this make it any more surprising that he was willing to return to Doctor Who.Here you go, maybe he was misquoted or maybe he's mellowed :-)

Right, those are two very different things. Are there reports of Simm behaving like that at conventions? Has he gone to conventions (and if not, that shouldn't be an issue)?Yeah, I'm sure any actor hates it when they're just grocery shopping and someone nags them about the role they're most famous for. If he were snubbing fans at a convention who were paying to see him, then I'd say he had a problem.
It's not so much that he hates Who fans as that he doesn't like to be focused upon when he's off-duty, as it were. Dr Who is just the more headline-grabbing show to attach the story to.
To my knowledge, John Simm hasn't done any conventions. Sadly, a Google search only turns up more reports of this story being conflated. I did find this article with statements from Simm himself saying the reports took his comment out of context.
Simm coming back....was that it? That was the big "mind blowing" spoiler? "Mildly surprising?" yes. "Mind blowing?" not even remotely close to being that.

Maybe, maybe not. I think a lot of people are also worn down by Moffat hyperbole.Again I think Who fans must have a very narrow definition of what would count as surprising.
Yeah, that would definitely do it.I think only Eccleston returning could possible qualify as mind-melting.
QFT... I know the interwebs would explode and I would be giddy like the proverbial school girl... Maybe with the new regime starting, he will be come more amiable to it.I think only Eccleston returning could possible qualify as mind-melting.
A friend of mine who worked on the show emailed me earlier and said,
"Simm isn't the only Master returning to the show. How happy you'll be about this will depend on your thoughts about Tarkin in Rogue One."
Interesting. Someone else already suggested the possibility of one or more of the other Masters returning.
So if Roger Delgaldo and/or Anthony Ainley are going to "reappear" via CGI masking, I sure hope BBC has the permission from their respective estates. And they better have Geoffery Beevers back, too, since he's actually available and still performing as The Master for Big Finish.
Long shot, but I certainly hope for Alex MacQueen and Derek Jacobi, too.
Or perhaps I'm just getting ahead of myself?
My concern is...
ILM couldn't get the Tarkin effect quite right, and they've got all the money in the world. The Mill ... is not ILM.
