CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Peters can bellyache and try and silence criticism and dissent all he wants. The fact remains, as evidenced by the court documents in the Axanar litigation, this was always a backdoor for a commercial enterprise. It was never just about making Axanar and giving donors what they paid for, even if Peters genuinely intended to make the Axanar film. Having gotten financially wiped out by the litigation he has gone on to mislead his supporters into thinking Axanar will be coming, deliberately as a way of swindling supporters out of more cash. But let's be honest here, Peters' primary intent now is to look after himself, and he doesn't care if fans are ripped off and not refunded. That's why he attacks dissenters like the arrogant child he is. But he is fighting a losing battle as the ship is sinking, if it hasn't already sunk, and much like the TrekUnited fellow who encouraged fans to give up loads of cash, he will never be trusted by Trek fans again. He, ultimately, is the author of his own misfortune.

Alec Peters is the perfect example of a bullshit artist who massively overrates his own abilities. But yet again his hubris and narcissism have driven a business into the ground, and the worst part is that the man doesn't care who suffers along the way. Awful, awful person and a very poor advertisement for Trek fans.

Agree.
And over at Fan Film Factor, Lane is writing about wildflowers.
BTW, what was the conclusion to the Trek United debacle? Is there a thread I can read for this?

I'm pretty sure we'll soon be seeing another update that they've decided to scrap the Axanar sets, citing the high cost of moving and storing them, and the limited time available to make such arrangements. Alec will no doubt say that it would be cheaper to recreate the sets elsewhere, with the bonus of making them even better than they were going to be. So the spin will be that it's a win, and smart use of donor money. But the unspoken truth is it will make it easier to just pocket the IGG money, with no immediate, verifiable use for the cash.

Mark my words.

On this edition of The Trekzone Spotlight I had intended to interview John Trigonis – Indiegogo’s Film, Creative & Equity Campaign Stategist, For several weeks we worked towards a date and time to discuss crowdfunding and the complexities of staying honest and within the project goals, however when he wanted to confirm what specifically we were talking about he pulled out and refused to talk further – even now dodging my emails. On this edition, my thoughts about Axanar as I take a stand.

two words - Excellent summary.

On AxaMonitor:
Alec Peters Strikes Deal with Studio Landlord to Move Out
Axanar Continues Foundering Indiegogo Campaign Despite Loss of Costly Studio That Was Its Centerpiece

Meanwhile, newly disgruntled donors are silenced and banned, and that vaunted nonprofit application isn't quite as far along as Axanar would have you believe. Read more »
Two words: Excellent graphic. ;)

AxaMonitor: On the Axanar Facebook page, this was a typical complaint lodged by supporters of the project:
" So the studio is being vacated by Axanar Productions, which used donor money to pay the rent. … Those of us who donated to Axanar get no opportunity for a refund as the money was spent on rent for a studio that will never be used for Axanar, on assets that will be provided to the landlord, and on sets that will be moved somewhere else."

Mr. Peter's reply:
"If you are going to say something incredibly stupid, like we achieved nothing, or Alec scammed everyone, then you are a moron and will be banned.
.........
Spend some time reading and learning before spouting off your ignorance."

— Alec Peters, Axanar Facebook Group

Okay. That's going on my list too.

And hey, that's exactly what I've 'been' doing for over a year! - Reading & learning! And researching and fact checking!

Axanar FB poster:
"many of us still supported the cause. Even knowing that the project was severely doomed. But yet we supported. Many of us were called idiots and fools...."

Yes, my dearest Fellow Fans, it has always troubled me that this was being done. Even while we ourselves were having to bear the burden of constantly being called Haters. Many of us, though, did not do that as I'm sure many of you also did not. And I am so sorry that happened to you as much as I am sorry that it happen to us.

Axanar FB poster:
"Whenever anyone questioned anything, they were immediately attacked and kicked out of the group. Well now, all of those people have been proven correct."

Speaking to you as a fellow fan and a former full fledged Donor/Supporter myself I'm so glad you do finally understand. And so very very sorry about the way it happened.

You were valiant in your support and advocacy in the face of all that was thrown your way. I admired and respected that even as I and so many of us kept working to get the information to you in a non-threatening manner to get you to hear us.

My dearest fellow fans, please know I am truly sorry for your loss. And completely understand. I may have gotten there sooner than you but my own recovery from the loss and sense of betrayal I experienced was deep..... as yours may be right now. And it took me months of trying to understand How This Could Have Happened for the intensity of it began to subside. So take some time to process what you're now going through. Maybe even stay off the boards for awhile so it's not a daily pin-prick as you process it? You were in there a lonnggg time. You, like I did, 'believed'. There is now much that needs to begin in repairing our Fandom; both what was done to us all as a Fandom..... and what we've done to each other because of it. We can get past this.... together.

Live Long & Prosper from this life long deep & true Star Trek fan, to you my fandom brothers and sisters. You were lost but now you are found.

So new update on the igg page. He's going to have a poll on what to do with the sets and if they should love to Georgia. A complete load of bull. And the igg is now about sets not studios.

The weird thing for me is he says he can still use the studio but is still talking of going to Georgia. If he can use the studio why move?

A very reasonable question. He has taught me to question everything he says, so yeah, possibly moving to Georgia and he can still use the studio? He has said the production company doesn't 'need' to have its own physical film studio to produce. The production company can produce at any film studio, so even if a property is set up in Georgia, axanar productions can still return to LA to produce something?

Because defendantGarth IS the production company. As he said it has no physical substance. It literally is entirely him. He's also announced axanar productions is ?'co-producing'? both the vampire and Harry Potter fan productions from the Pitch video. And landlordDanny, he says (& I believe), has agreed to them filming there. So maybe that/them? And/or various and sundry other plans that have yet to come to light? Like maybe he is still a board member for industry studios?

defendantGarth is a complicated guy

Transporting the sets between ga and la would be expensive. He's giving options of putting sets in storage or renting a new place in ga.

Personally I think he's already decided to move to Georgia and will influence the vote to get that outcome.

sorry --- I misspoke.

What I meant to say is it is possible for defendantGarth to be physically based (I'm doing a hypothetical here) in Georgia; the prop company needs a physical place, and he can be 'based' in Georgia, have an economical building if (and I speculate he will) he takes any sets with him.

And in Georgia he can be a fan film maker and producer in his own little studio (like Starbase Studios & STC does)..... plus.... run around anywhere, as in industry studios, as the one man show axanar productions to 'produce' other 'stuff'.

Only problem with being like starbase studios is he has no money to build a second studio and nobody in the fan film community wants anything to do with him.

If he can use the studio he already built why leave and build a new one and move the seat cross country? I don't think the deal with Danny is how it's being presented.

I hope axamonitor or Trekzone can get an interview with Danny.
