There is no way this "Danny" is paying a damn thing to AP; it's all spin. Why WOULD "Danny" pay anything? I mean AP is getting out of the lease what, 9 months early; so that is $135,000 in rent that "Danny" is not getting. THAT money is the "payment" that AP is talking about. What landlord in their right mind would pay him anything?

Quite reasonable questions.

I also think of them in my attempts to wade through rhetoric to see reality. What I know, what I proceed from, is decades of knowledge that Business in general spins for perception. As do many to most people for reasons often only ever known to themselves.

To that I add my own researched information on the defendant that shows a long and strong history of the predilection and propensity for obfuscating and dissembling for self-promotion. Which is layered on top of the dozens of times I myself have confirmed the defendant's written, audibly recorded, and filmed words and deeds be denied, then retold to match the new version.

E.g.:
-'I looked around and found the shipping company to had the lowest rates and chose that one.'
-'That shipping company didn't tell me it had raised the rates.'
later...
-'I own and built the shipping company specifically to handle this sale. I have only one employee.'
-'The sale was a big success and everyone was happy.
Which does not reflect the reality that Many people were Not happy, nor the lawsuit brought against him by MGM to recover their hundreds of thousands of dollars from that company lost in that sale, which suit he lost, and promptly declared bankruptcy.

I, personally, have now confirmed over a decade of this type of business and personal behavior repeated over and over. And since I have also found the defendant exhibits a long history of talking publicly and in email/PMs I have found the defendant -he himself in his own words on film/on tape/in print- has been monumentally easy to track and fact check in these types of behaviors.

That is the Lens the defendant has taught me to look through when I read or hear anything he says or does: 'What of this is real, and to how great an extent?'

So I, like you, find myself asking: Why would landlordDanny do this? What's in it for him? What's the real picture of what's going on?'

To get there one has to search through massive amounts of flotsam.

I currently 'speculate' this newest announcement indicates there is a behind the scenes business deal in play.

And at least to me, the aftermath is proceeding exactly like the spin I've noted during the lawsuit and about the settlement where one has to wade through all the:
1. It's their fault
2. True Star Trek fans love/want
3. I tried to settle
4. I'm doing this for the fans
5. I didn't do those things I legally testified I did
6. Transparent financials
7. Where's the money
8. Investor Group to the rescue
9. I pay the rent out of my own pocket
10. You sit and m**t to pics of small ****
11. It's Christian's fault
12. Axanar is universally love by Star Trek fans
13. You are a moron
14. 'delete' 'delete'
15. I only get love from fans
........To be able to get even close to the reality.

(That list is documented by me, myself, from the defendant's own words in print, recorded in the official podcast, on video tape, and is a list can literally go on for pages.)

the still-donors/still-supporters 'will' be taught to see it as a win, so they're gonna feel like winners too! Eye of the beholder, and all.
Sure, why not. See below:

Any supporter/donor still remaining after THIS announcement and maybe even donating must be really THAT dumb to still follow Axanar Productions and would have honestly earned to be fooled over and over again. :D
Some fun reading on the Axanar Facebook page includes this gem:
The problem with uncritical, irrational, frothing fanboys- and I'm not saying that's everyone- is the way they turn on you in the same uncritical, irrational, frothing manner if they somehow feel betrayed.

You did what you did, within an industry that is the way it is, and I don't see how you're not delivering what you actually owe, Axanar. Wishing you all the best.

I guess he still has to sound proof the place, but if the rest of the infrastructure is up to code, he will indeed be the big winner.

Or, he has no intention of running the place as a studio and is just kicking them out. The only thing AP says that is verifiable is that Axanar is vacating and leaving its build-out behind.

Seems to have been another night of purging for the Axanar Donors Group. Seems like a lot of people finally broke their silence and were summarily dealt with in the usual way. Even some legitimate and polite questions are getting the old "delete and ban" treatment.
Troubling. You indicate this was happening last night? (Friday US)

On this edition of The Trekzone Spotlight I had intended to interview John Trigonis – Indiegogo’s Film, Creative & Equity Campaign Stategist, For several weeks we worked towards a date and time to discuss crowdfunding and the complexities of staying honest and within the project goals, however when he wanted to confirm what specifically we were talking about he pulled out and refused to talk further – even now dodging my emails. On this edition, my thoughts about Axanar as I take a stand.

A shame the guest cancelled but a still a great video, really sums it up nicely. Embarrassingly, I've only just become familiar with your work, but have since dived in watched quite a bit of your content. Always like seeing people from our side of the world involved in this stuff...

Matt, when you decide to take a stand..... whoa. :)
Short, intense, to the heart of your point.
The production value by itself in this one was even above your normal impressive.
You presented extremely well, never faltered, spoke with an authority of purpose.
The way you looked into the camera gave the feeling you were looking and talking directly to me rather than an audience.

Well done, mate.

thank you, sir. a passionate topic for many - and my passion is in not letting people piss away their money without knowledge.

I just wanted to say thanks @TREKZONE.org for all your coverage of this debacle. I've really enjoyed all your shows and the interviews have always been a great watch and informative (even that car crash of an interview with a certain wannabe producer which can't have been much fun at the time).

Matt, great video. It is a shame that platforms like IndieGogo are turning a blind eye and just want their cut........and don't pay attention or care if the campaign ever follows through on the original goals. More troubling is that it seems you can launch a fundraiser then change the goals midstream with no consequence.
