News Martin-Green Confirmed For Discovery

Back to the topic(?) at hand... There is already precedent within Star Trek for having given names cross the "gender boundary". Sarek's second Human wife is named Perrin on TNG, which in contemporary times is primarily a male name when used as a given, or first, name.

And in case there's still any doubt about this:

People who come here just to troll and bait others by posting racist, sexist or anti-LGBT content will find no tolerance for their intolerance.
Intellectual dwarves do not cast long shadows here.

But boy do they take massive dumps.

At this point, the entire thread has devolved into disaster. My vote is to just delete it and start over. It never should have been a major topic of discussion. The writers named the character what they wanted to, because they can. For a reason or without, doesn't matter. We shouldn't be making any kind of deal out of what a character's name is.

Honestly, maybe it's just me, and I never was opposed to the naming in the first place, but by now, I'm over it. I think we all should be as well. Naming conventions can't and won't stay static for all time. So deal with it. It is what it is. Enough said.

So, about Martin-Green: I'm not much of a Walking Dead fan so I've only seen her a couple of times. Maybe it was the character but she didn't impress me as an actress. I didn't see a huge range, you know?
What's the take of those who have seen her more often?

They didn't really give her much to work with. Every now and then she was good if they needed her to display emotions.

Sasha was a character who hid her emotions from those around her. Sasha was also reckless, if not suicidal, for some time, after the loses she had suffered in earlier seasons of Bob and Tyreese. Plus, her potential romance with Abraham was cut short. Sasha was a mentally tortured and frustrated individual who tended to stuff everything inside. Add to that, she was a relatively minor character, like an Uhura or a Sulu. I think that Sasha was more important to the story lines before the group got to Alexandria. So, she was generally just shown brooding.

I agree with @Borgminister about the look on her face when she got only a pill.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Martin-Green can offer Star Trek, because I've little doubt that she'll bring something that we've never seen before on the show, especially in a main character.

I would love it. I would nickname her sister "Romana."

And next episode we find out her sister is an adopted Tholian.

...

Makes family get-togethers really awkward... certainly the temperature is uncomfortable.

As mentioned before the American College of Pediatricians is a known hate group composed of religious fanatics. They have as much scientific credibility as the KKK or the Neo-Nazis.

Given this poster's obsession with gender, I'm thinking they're dealing with their own issues related to gender and is really trying to convince themselves more than anyone else. I hope they get the help they truly need.

Stop it already. Nobody here is interested in your transphobic content. I have removed your hate speech nonsense. Stop using this forum for hate speech.

Infraction for trolling. Don't bother PMing me. An admin will probably ban you soon.

There is zero tolerance for transphobic, homophobic, racist and sexist content here.
