@TheSublimeGoose different how btw PC & console? Part of my issue is that I'm looking for something to do while recovering from a hand injury. I have a one handed controller that works very well on my PS4. Is it possible to play one handed on PC?
I really like the game, but I'm so frustrated with the PS4 version that I've decided to quit. I thought it'd be out of having to struggle so much with understanding the game after a month of playing 6-7 hours a day. Its just not fun anymore.
It feels clear that the team spent a lot of time porting STO to consoles. They made it feel like a console game fairly decently. I'm not sure what hand is hurt/what sort of mobility you have in said hurt hand, but I'll try and answer your question regarding that-
If it's your left hand that's hurt, then yes, you could pry play on PC. Especially if you can use a finger or two. Might be fairly difficult if you have no use of your fingers.
If it's your right hand that's hurt, I don't know how you could play without the mouse.
Caveat to all this is, however- it's still the exact same game. The control make it feel different, but it still has the same content, the same everything. That's the reason I stopped playing as well- there was too much content, and most of it was pretty vacuous and empty feeling. And that's after putting in dozens of hours to understand it all.
I can recommend plenty of great games while you're recovering, however;
On the cheaper side, there's Stardew Valley for both consoles and PC. It's a wonderful, relaxing, and extremely addicting Harvest-Moon style farming simulator. Fantastic game. Only 14.99 and I have MORE than gotten my money back from it, and then some.
Subnautica is one of the *very* few "survival-crafting" games I've not only enjoyed, but found to be one of my favorite games. It's crafting system is not too complicating or overburdening. The sense of wonder, discovery, and exploration I get from this game is unmatched. No other game has allowed me to feel like I'm *actually* exploring and discovering things. Only $19.99, albeit still in early access, and currently only for PC and Xbox One.
Everyone is giving the new Mass Effect: Andromeda a hard time. Yes, they could have taken more time to polish some of the animation, absolutley. But I still give it a solid 8.5/10. Great story, if a slow build-up. It makes you feel like a colonist, like a pioneer. Fairly decent combat. Terrible menu and inventory system, though. Ugh.
And, of course, there's The Witcher 3. Words aren't enough to describe this masterpiece. I'm hoping you've played it, but I understand if you don't game all that much or what have you. Incredible RPG. The devs, CD Projekt Red are also super fan-friendly. All of what would normally be "DLC" is totally free; new armor packs, weapons, etc. The only paid DLC are two *actual* expansion packs- one adding 15-20hrs of gameplay, another close to 30-40. You can pick up the complete edition, all DLC and expansion, for like... 30 bucks? It was actually on sale for 15 on the Xbox One store a couple weeks ago, too.
Anyways, hope that helps! Any more questions about STO or the games I recommended, hit me up!
