Real answer: Fox fucking hates Cutler.
I'm not sure Glennon is a worse QB. But, they'll have to play the games for us all to find out.
There was something going on in Chicago with Cutler, as there have been rumblings about getting rid of him for a while. Once they moved into rebuilding mode, there was really no reason to keep him as he wasn't going to be there when it was done. Though I have a feeling neither Fox nor the GM (whose name I'm too lazy to look up right now) will be there either.
Cutler is the best QB in the history of the Bears franchise full stop. He's not a rah rah guy but his talent compared to Mike Glennon isn't even close. I get that sometimes it's just time to move on but at this point what does it matter. It's kind of like the Eagles running Andy Reid out of town.
Fox is coaching for his job and Cutler made an easy fall guy for him and Pace. "How were we supposed to succeed, we had that jackwagon for our first two seasons."
There are "what if" guys that I hate watching waste what little time they have left in their careers. I hate that guys like Phillip Rivers are wasting away in San Diego and now Jay Cutler is going to go a fledgling Jets franchise apparently. Still waiting to see where Romo lands. It's going to be an end of an era when those three check out. They fall into the "you'll miss them when they are gone" category.
Tough. Good QBs, but never exactly over-achieved. So many BAD QBs these days that they certainly stand out above most, though. I'd put Ben as the clear #1 out of that group, team has played at a high level for most of his run. Eli has the 2 rings against the Patriots, but played to fairly mediocre results for most of his years. Rivers feels like he should have done more with his talent, but really only made that one run that I can remember, and it was a quick out. On a different team, feel like he'd have done better, I dunno.
Given the way the NFL has been trending, there will certainly be less decent QBs when those 3 quit. Have a hard time using them to define the era, though, outside of maybe Ben. And even then, it was really the Manning and Brady show, with Ben as a decent third act. And then there's Rodgers sort of straddling the timeline between Manning/Brady and the slightly younger crowd we're talking about. He's probably about the same age as the younger guys (when was he drafted again?) but definitely better.

Edit: I mean, come the fuck on, their QB competition in camp is literally going to be Glennon, Sanchez and Fales. Schefter says the Bears' plan is to not draft a quarterback until the late rounds. Pace, you and Fox almost got fired a few months ago, what are you doing?

Las Vegas committed $950 million in public funding.
What a mess all around.
I can't blame Mark Davis for taking the money and heading to the desert. But, it is a shame that these decisions come down to purely dollars.
It's a shame that Las Vegas politicians thought it was a brilliant idea to eat into the finite tax capacity of an already cash-strapped municipality with stupid shit like building a football stadium (for a multi-millionaire who could easily afford it on his own) instead of worrying about things like education.
This is a terrible deal for Vegas especially because the city has to make up any shortfalls in funding for this stadium that's only going to be finished in four years. So it ties the local government even more to tourist revenue at a time when its tourist industry still hasn't fully recovered from the Great Recession, and there's easily a ~40 percent chance we hit another recession within the construction timeline of this stadium. All to fund a rich guy's pet project.
Well, the people of Las Vegas, and Nevada in general, can vote out those politicians if they are unhappy with the deal. But, they voted those folks in, so they're getting what they paid for.
They're also built an NHL stadium for an expansion team.
The Golden Knights play in the brand-new T-Mobile Arena, which received literally $0 in public financing for its construction.
Thing is, though, this wasn't even ever put up for a referendum. No one asked the residents of Las Vegas if they wanted to commit a billion dollars of tax revenue to build a football stadium that will have almost zero impact on the local economy after it opens. It was rammed through the city council and that's that.
And the "they can vote those guys out" thing doesn't carry water, because that's not how it works in local government -- after you get voted out, you can get a sweet gig working for the people who just built the stadium you approved.
Especially in a place like Vegas.
None? No infrastructure improvements, no discounts on the land? Seldom that an arena is 100% privately financed. Not unheard of, but seldom.
MGM Grand and AEG provided the $350 million for T-Mobile Arena because Clark County politicians balked at forking out money for it.

I mean, I guess the main issue I have is is that the direct economic impact of new sports stadiums upon their communities has been proven, time and again, to be effectively neutral at best, and that's been shown for at least a decade. The City of Miami and Miami-Dade County got taken for a ride with Marlins Park (I'm too tired to look up the exact details, but I believe the City is covering all of the taxes from the parking lots, and covering an annual maintenance fee, and the total taxpayer cost is going to be north of $2 billion -- before inflation), and Las Vegas / Clark County got taken for an almost equally terrible ride considering that it's the municipality, not, you know, the fucking multi-millionaire tenant, on the hook for overruns and delays.
Roger Goodell has done a lot of despicable things in his tenure as commissioner, but not just allowing but encouraging his rich friends to hold cities hostage until they pony up money for a new stadium ... that's utterly disgusting.
