I guess that does make sense.I always thought Eris only had it because it was necessary for her mission. (There's no reason for most Vorta to have it, because they're always accompanied by Jem'Hadar.)

Is it really possible to build your own spaceworthy ship with some centuries-old plans like the Bajoran lightship?
As the Bajorans probably don't really exist, their centuries-old plans for lightships don't either, so that would be a 'no'.
^ Then, imho, it's not much use asking if something is 'really possible' within that fictional universe either. I see far more implausible stuff happen in eps, and as we see it done, I'm strongly inclined to believe it is possible (in the fictional star trek universe). Though I wouldn't be surprised if 'the Sisko' cheated a little by using some advanced replication techs and perhaps some other tools the ancient Bajorans wouldn't have had.
We know he did. Sisko added artificial gravity.
True, but I meant, in migitating the difficulties of actually manufacturing the ship. For example use of an (industrial) replicator for some parts probably would have made the process a whole lot easier. Or perhaps some of those self-sealing stembolts(probably not, as it was intended to be an exact replica).

I assumed that the Bajorans built their lightships by hand, and that's why it was easy for Sisko to do it as well.
Remember, the lightship is a centuries-old (perhaps millennia-old) design by the time DS9 came along. Even if the Bajorans ever had replicator technology, the lightship surely came way before it.
All parts had to be replicated, or this off-hours hobby would have required a leave of absence for several years.
Or he could have traded via subspace for parts, which would then be delivered. Hell, he could have even sought Quark's help with that.
In the Voyager episode Tatoo, the native tribe that Chakotay and his father visited in South America (or was it Central America). They were called The Rubber Tree people. Didn't they have bumpy foreheads? Or at least some kind of ridge on the their foreheads. So were they saying this one tribe had some alien DNA or did they practice some kind of self mutilation to honor their gods?
