I went Day One on ME2, 3, as well as DA:O, DA2, DA:I and never had any of these issuesI've never bought a Bioware game on release where the first playthrough wasn't mired by performance issues, bugged side-quests and glitchy cut-scenes

- "Mass Effect Archive" is a save import/export feature not unlike Dragon Age Keep. Andromeda's save file can be uploaded for, assumebly, future Mass Effect titles.[1]
- Other ark names include Pachero (Salarian), Lunisia (Asari), and Natanas (Turian).[1]
- Smallest planetary zone in Andromeda is larger than all of Dragon Age: Inquisition.[2]
- The squadmate with the least amount of dialogue has more than all of Shepard's in Mass Effect 3.[2]
(yes please)
- Nomad can swap between fast rear wheel drive, and all terrain six wheel drive.[/2]
- The big theme for the game was 'fulfill the promise of Mass Effect 1.' - Ian Frazier, lead designer.[3]
- Noveria from Mass Effect 1 used as a point of reference for how the open planet playspaces and mission are constructed. "Imagine a Novaria where you find a whole lot more than just driving from point A to point B, from the cool big hub and the other cool big hub." - Ian Frazier.[3]
- Conversation tones include emotional, logical, casual, and professional. These replace the binary paragon and renegade.[3]
- Additional conversation tones sarcastic, obedient, or skeptical noted.[4]
- Ambient companion dialogue as you drive around.[3]
- Nine preset heads exist within the character creator, across a variety of races and genders, that can be customised.[4]
- Background training chosen during character creation, eg: security, biotic, technician, leader, scrapper, and operative.[4]
- Environments designed with cultural and biological needs of the inhabitants who live there.[5]
- Far more work has been put into writing behind the general crew of the Tempest, beyond your squadmates. Crew interacts with each other over the intercom.[5]
- Attempting to make character interactions and relationship development more nuanced and made up of shades of grey.[5]
- Timeline confirmed to have the Andromeda Initiative leave the Milky Way post Mass Effect 2, but pre Mass Effect 3.[6]
- Exploration and open play begins right with the prologue. Given key goal, but area is open enough to do some exploring, engage in optional encounters, make discoveries, etc.[6]
- Quest log fully details objectives and events, including the ability to go over a summary and see the decisions you made.[6]
- Securing one character's trust could come impact another.[6]
- Drack is the "antithesis of Gruny", older, wiser, and matured.[6]
- Vetra is warmer than Garrus, and joined the Initiative with her little sister.[6]
- Crafting blueprints organised into broze/silver/gold rarity category, and are purchased by spending "research data", which is accrued via scanning the environment to expand your codex.[7]
- Weapon mods can change the way weapons function, such as adding burst fire to a shotgun, and lasers to an assault rifle.[7]
- Galaxy map is used to scan planets for anomalies. These can result in simple resource acquisitions, to unlocking either open planet zones (with vehicle exploration) and smaller on-foot zones.[7]

so you got the games on PC I take it? sorry if you stated that before, maybe I've missed itI got DA2, DAI, ME2 & ME3 at launch and of them I think the worst was probably DA2.
It had this weird cumulative bug where everytime you saved a game, the player attack speed would be recorded incorrectly resulting in a gradual but exponential slowdown. By Act 3, my DW rogue femHawke was fighting in full on bullet-time slow-mo with everyone else moving normally. They eventually patched it so it didn't get any worse, but that didn't undo the initial error in the save file. Had to go into the file with a save editor and manually edit the appropriate value.
I forget the which and the what but there were a bunch of side-quests (mostly act 3) that either didn't trigger, couldn't be turned in or were just broken and that's not even counting all of the worldstate import errors.
There was also one that flat out spoilt Merrill's loyalty story as if played certain cutscenes out or order: specifically the scene where she morns the Keepers death *before* that quest was even started. I think there was something weird with one of the final Varrik loyalty scenes too.
ME2 also had a few oddities with the side-quests (mostly Omega & Illium IIRC), though not as bad as ME3 which had a whole slew of the Citadel quests breaking, including the Kasumi one.
With DAI it was a bunch of minor niggles one would expect in a large, semi-open world game and some not so minor performance and stability issues. For a while there DAI would crash at least once an hour.
I'm not saying any or even all of these are particularly unusual (though the attack slow-down was a pain to sort out) nor that they're grounds for not buying the game.
Just that for once, it'd be nice for the first playthough to be with a fully patched and reasonably stable game. It's just a contributing factor in my wondering if applying a little patience foresight won't result in a better overall experience.
By comparison, I bought the DA:O "Ultimate Edition" for a tenner not long before DA2 came out and while certainly not bug free, it was by far the best gaming experience and value for money of any other Bioware game since.

re: GOTYs, of course they're impossible to beat from a value standpoint - especially with heavy hitters like ME and DA, where the eventual GOTY release is just a matter of "when", not "if" - it becomes a matter of "are you willing to wait?"

I seem incapable of designing a male face that looks interesting and not exactly like a slightly stunned and strategically shaved baboon.
Well this is strange. So far as I can tell they're not actually selling a physical copy of the game for PC. The only thing listed is a "code in a box" which may just be the most stupid and wasteful kind of product I've ever heard of.
I think that may have decided it for me as a 55GB download would probably tie up my internet connection for a week and a half.
Bugger that for a game of space conkers!
It is a bit of a pain. There had been random comments online that it would also be released on disc, but those have fallen by the wayside.
Given that I've also downloaded a few via Steam and GOG this quarter, I suspect my provider is going to wonder what's going on as I haven't been quite so prolific doing that before![]()
Jeez! Been a busy few days! The hype train is at full speed now!
