No, he means MoS and BvS.
Nolan has talent, but Snyder? Snyder isn't in the same league. He has great vision and makes gorgeous movies to be sure, they just aren't very good. I place him just slightly above Michael Bay.
And just what makes DC movie so "mature"?
The jar of piss? The grim-dark setting? Personally, I've always felt that dark, grim and gritty comics were particularly mature comics... to 15 year olds.And if Marvel movies are for kiddies and DC movies are such mature, high-brow entertainment, why do they all have the same PG-13 rating? Surely, Marvel is shooting for the pre-school crowd.

Yeah, Marvel has big trouble when they have to shift their schedules around because movies like Ant-Man (with no planned sequel) do better than expected and get a sequel. Otherwise, things stay right on schedule despite what happens behind the scenes. Directors leave and reshoots occur (as happens every day in the movie industry), but things still turn out on time and as they planned.
Meanwhile Batman, the number one superhero on earth, keeps scaring people away from the next installment. And Flash is getting a ground up re-do with the script. That hasn't happened yet to Star Wars or Marvel.
Disney bought Marvel for $4 billion. Let's say that again. Four. Billion. Dollars. And then Disney bought Lucasfilms for another $4 billion. Let's say that again also. Another. Four. Billion. Dollars. If someone thinks they're not gonna "protect" their investment from "harm" they're an idiot. WB and Fox are at fault because they're not doing the exact same thing.
And if you think that Marvel's movies are great pieces of cinema with great direction please advise me. What other cinematic masterpieces have you seen from Marvel's directors like Louis Leterrier, or Alan Taylor or Anthony and Joe Russo or James Gunn or Peyton Reed or Scott Derrickson or even Joss Whedon? If Snyder is in the same league as Michael Bay then in what league are they?
And finally this thread was doing fine and well before all the Disney/Marvel trolls flooded it. If they hate DC movies so much why do they even bother reading and replying here? How insecure are Disney/Marvel fanboys that they feel the need to troll every single DC-only news thread?

You were the one who brought up Marvel. Furthermore, I stated my opinion on the Marvel movies a few pages back. I don't consider them to be great cinema either.They haven't all been winners. But I do think they are better made and altogether more coherent and accessible than the DC movies.

The main reason The Dark Night being good was so surprising was that all of the previous Batman movies were crap. And Rises was crap too.

How can I do you a favor? By giving you good taste in movies or a cinema lesson? Unfortunately I can't do either of those.
All previous Batman movies...Well I know alot of people who have good things to say about the first two. I don't think they have aged well but Batman and Batman Returns were really good for their time. For me Nolan is a superb director in most his movies and The Dark Knight trilogy, for me is the crown jewel of comic book movies. Batman Begins is actually my favourite of the 3 though because it has more of a comic book feel than the other two and am a sucker for origin movies.
As for "The Batman" it can be great because Affleck was superb and probably my favourite version of the character to date on the silver screen but WB seem to be rushing with little in the way of an actual foundation in mind. I will always hold the opinion the follow up to MoS should of been a solo Batman movie, so you introduce both the big DC guns on their own before you do the BvS movie, hell I probably would of done MoS > TB> WW> BVS > SS > JL

Yeah, there's obviously something they're after that these directors' don't seem to want to commit to. Honestly, I wonder if they wouldn't be better off going with TV directors, so far Marvel has had pretty good luck with the Russos, and with the way these movies are made they're almost more like a TV series anyway.
Marvel has had a few issues, but they manage to resolve them pretty quickly, but DC on the other had has tons of problems, and haven't managed to make a movie anywhere near the level of what Marvel has been producing. I liked BvS and SS quite a bit, but they're still not at the level Marvel has managed. It's worth remembering that even the director of SS has admitted he screwed up with that one.
I enjoy both series of movies quite a bit, but I'd still put Marvel ahead of DC quite a bit.
I still don't understand why so many people can't handle the fact that the Marvel movies are just light hearted fun. I would appreciate it if someone could please explain to me why this actually seems to make people so angry? I like both dark serious stuff and fun light hearted stuff, and I like the fact that we are getting both right now with Marvel and DC.
I also like that we get something different, and I will applaud WB for taking the DCEU into a more gritty realistic/grounded (as much as a comic book franchise can be) approach to their movies and going for something not Marvel like. Marvel does dark as well but it a different way and they like to dip in and out, as much as DC likes to dip into the light hearted territory but not stay there as much as Marvel.
If you look at the TV shows of both MCU/DCEU they act as polar opposites of their silver screen counterparts with the DC shows being light hearted despite Arrow in particular having Batman esq roots and Flash/Legends/Supergirl being pure light hearted action all the way. Marvel on the other hands take their Netflix shows into a more DC gritty style opposed to the MCU movies.
We get different things from different brands and that's how it should work.
The dichotomy between grounded and mature vs lighthearted and fun shouldn't be between the studios and comic book companies but between the characters! Of course Marvel has done grounded and mature comics. Of course DC has lighthearted and fun comics. So the style should reflect the source material and the character! They're doing a Batman or Daredevil movie? Then it should be dark and mature! They're doing a Flash or Spider-Man? Then of course it should have funny one-liners! I think WB has understood that and we'll see a slightly different approach with Justice League. But Disney will never go dark and mature and that's why we'll never have a Daredevil or Punisher or Ghost Rider movie in the MCU from Disney.
I'm really not a fan of Tim Burton, but his two Batman movies are just about bearable, the non Burton ones less so.That's… That's so weak an argument…

Nolan ? His rather obviously telegraphing 'look how ****ing clever I am' in most everything he does fails to endear him to me. And he's not. I hated Interstellar, The Prestige, and Inception. As I said, producing one fine movie in his Batman trilogy was a surprise, to me at least. I'm still debating whether to go to see Dunkirk. I suspect I'll give it a go, but...
If you want to give me a cinema lesson, start with Ridley Scott and Spielberg. Overall I don't like them either, and yes, both have made film or two I do like.
