Episode Eight Pre-Release Thread

There was a Superbowl teaser, but it was not much more than the earlier November teaser. Since we haven't seen anything at all, it seems reasonable to expect that (plus, every big movie seems to have a Superbowl ad).
Wouldn't we have probably heard about it by now if there were going to be getting our first teaser that soon?
Should we get the thread name changed to The Last Jedi Anticipation Thread now since that is the official title of the movie?

Could be that they want to make it a surprise, although a week and a half out, there might be some rumblings from some quarters.

Well as you can't change the thread yourself, we'd better ask then hadn't we. @Neroon, what do you say? Could you be so kind to change the title to the "Last Jedi Pre-Release Thread"?

^ I think that the request has to come from the thread's creator in a PM, but I could be wrong.

We have a new actor portraying R2-D2 in Episode 8. Welcome to the Star Wars family, Jimmy Vee (although, he apparently did some uncredited work on TFA).

I'm kind of surprised they're even putting a new actor in R2, couldn't they just have a fully automated version by now? Would this just be tradition at this point?

There are still things only an actor can do with the like of R2. The rocking back and forth motion for one I think. Also sometimes I suppose it is easier to emote to someone who can give an emote make directly rather than through an operator several feet away off screen.

A new story has popped up about at least part of what Finn's role in TLJ might be. This comes from Making Star Wars originally, but the story I read (and am linking to) is from CBR.
Apparently he uses his knowledge of the First Order to infiltrate go undercover as an officer on a Star Destroyer, which is the FO's new main hub since Starkiller Base was destroyed, where he is going to be planting explosives. While there he's recognized by another Stormtrooper (played by Tom Hardy) who isn't aware he changed sides, and who congratulates him on his promotion.

It would be better to merge this thread with my "episode 8 title revealed" thread.

Here's the StarWars.com Force Friday II announcement that featured the image of Finn, Poe, and Rey.
They'll be doing it on Sept. 1. and once again they'll be revealing all of the toys during a big live unboxing event with videos coming from people all around the world.
That looks pretty cool. Looking forward to more, though I doubt the Micro Machine line will continue though :(

I find that hard to believe.

If Daniel Craig can have a cameo as a storm trooper whose face we never even see, I'm sure Tom Hardy is also a possibility.

It be funnier if he was the spirit or holocron recording of Darth Bane. Save that Darth Bane already has the voice of Mark Hamill.

I can't wait. I think I'm going to watch Episode VIII every day for a month.
