Agents of Shield - Season 4

Yeah, but what does he know. Just because someone comes along to give expositional information, doesn't mean he knows what he's talking about.

You asked why Nadeer wasn't affected like her brother was. That's the explanation the show gave. And I think there is a basis for it in the comics. Not every member of the same family develops Inhuman powers when exposed to Terrigen. For instance, Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) was the only member of her family to be activated as an Inhuman when the Terrigen mists were released globally.

All true, but they revealed that information through a thug's belief.

No, they revealed that information by the fact that Nadeer was not affected by the Terrigen mist. Shockley's statement is consistent with the observed facts and was presented as if it were an already-known reality of how Inhumans work. Therefore, there is no reason to doubt its accuracy just because the source was a bad guy. If a bad guy says Paris is in France, that's not a reason to start spinning conspiracy theories about how it's actually in Spain and everyone's being fooled.

My pessimism about Mace's future has increased with this new development that the serum has potentially deadly side effects.

Well, Coulson was in classic form in this episode, with his calm and reasoned approach to bringing Agnes into the fold. Unfortunately, but understandably, Agnes was more interested in staying alive. Now her body is dead, but her mind lives on in Radcliffe's matrix. I wonder how this will play out. Are May and Agnes now in the same world, and will they meet and interact? What will Aida do? Her reaction to learning about Agnes was quite interesting, as was her acquisition of Agnes's necklace. And if Agnes can be uploaded to the matrix, can she also be downloaded into Aida? I'm going to make the prediction that Aida will download Agnes into herself, because she wants to be loved by Radcliffe.

Shockster, or whatever his name is, has quite the Inhuman ability-- he can blow himself to atoms and reform stark naked behind conveniently placed obstacles. Those Kree really showed some foresight. :rommie:

I'm crossing my fingers for Fitz or Mace.
It would be nice if Mace drew an Ace.

I am a little confused about the Mace plan. The plan was to let the director of Shield get captured by the bad guys? That's the plan? Sacrificing the king to save a pawn?

But he's not the king. At best, he's the bishop. That was the whole of the overstayed football analogy.

That wasn't the plan in advance. The plan was to catch the bad guy. But when things went south, Mace chose to sacrifice himself for the sake of the others.

Its more than that it is basic genetics. how one brother can carry the Sickle Cell Anemia trait as a bomb for his children when his sibling has died from the disease. From what I am reading the comic books really dumb'ed it down making the Inhuman and Mutant traits always dominant. In one case passed down from the father and from the mother in the other case,

Watched yesterday. I LOVED the whole scene with Daisy repeatedly blowing him up just to keep shutting him up.
Cut back to the rest of the crew (boom!) discussing what do (boom!) about capturing (boom!) him...

That was my favorite part of the episode.
It also shows lateral thinking on Daisy's part- the whole plan was to carefully try and keep him from exploding, when it came time to do it she had the inspiration it was easier to make him blow up at the time of her choosing (and she chose a lot).

Yes, that was great! Creative thinking by Daisy.

However, am I the only one that dislikes the Coulson/May romance storyline? Why is it so hard for writers to allow characters to be very close friends and colleagues without succumbing to the temptation to have them suddenly plunge into a romantic relationship with each other? I HATE this development. It seems like a poor use of these characters. Coulson became obsessed with punishing Ward after he killed Rosalind, acting pretty irrationally, especially for Coulson. Now he seems to be showing a similar crazed obsession with finding May, way beyond a believable determination to find a long-time friend and colleague. It discards the qualities I've always liked about Coulson -- his determination to do the right thing and his intelligence and cleverness in having plans and backup plans to accomplish his goals. We saw the out-of-control Coulson last season as he pursued Ward. Please don't do it again.

I don't at all mind romantic storylines. I've liked watching the FitzSimmons relationship bloom and grow. And Mack and Yo-Yo are also great together. All pretty well written. So we don't really need another such storyline shoehorned in, especially the way it's being done. (Similarly, I also hate that the Star Trek fiction writers felt the need to get Picard and Crusher together. They flirted with romance in the episode "Attached" and decided that that level of relationship was not to be. And I wish the writers had left it there.) There is NO NEED to pair up everyone in your cast with each other. Not everyone at my workplace is dating each other. Giving in to that temptation is, IMHO, lazy writing, and bowing to pressure from the segment of fandom known as "shippers". Please, find more interesting things to do with the characters. Especially if you already have characters established that you can turn to for romantic complications storylines.

End of rant. :p

I don't mind Coulson and May as a couple. I had foreseen the possibilities back in Season One. However, I noticed that the show never really explored how May dealt with Dr. Garner's death, last season. Aside from a brief scene of her cradling his dead body and looking sad & pensive . . . nothing.

I agree. They've never really dealt much with May coming to grips with losing Andrew, or even really with Coulson dealing with Rosalind's death, beyond going a bit crazy, chasing down and killing Ward. Makes for very shallow characters jumping right back into a relationship. Such a TV cliche. Bury the old spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend in the season finale, then introduce the new one in the next season opener. I'd hoped for better...

The way I see it is, who else would be a good match for Coulson or May, except the other? Who else does either of them know that they can confide in about their work, that they have as much history and understanding with, that they can be completely open and in sync with? Both of them have a lot of secrets, and May isn't someone who trusts or opens up easily. Coulson is just about the only person still alive that she could let her guard down with enough to have a romance with. So I don't see it as arbitrary shipping or obligatory pairing off. It makes sense to me.
