T'Pol

I think it was Spock who was the atypical Vulcan, overcompensating for his human half. Watch "Amok Time" and compare how every other Vulcan acts - that's the template for the Vulcans in Enterprise. They have lofty ideals and goals, but like many people here on Earth they fall somewhat short of their target. T'Pol included.
^ This. T'Pring's scheme to have Spock fight Kirk, and she gets what she wants either way foreshadows the various Vulcan schemes in Enterprise and mistrust humans had for Vulcans. Vulcans aren't all like Spock and Sarek, although Soval eventually emerged to be close enough.
T'pol's emotions in later seasons were a combination of Trellium and Pa'nar syndrome, as well as the experience she had on Earth leaving the Vulcan habitat to explore that we saw through the forced mind-meld episode. She was a complex character and all the more interesting for it.
Meanwhile Spock certainly had his emotional moments, and not all of them could be written off as coming from his human side.

He's not a Kohlinar Master ( no emotions) or V'tosh ka'tur ( embraces emption ). We know he had emotional issues in the past. He still shows things like exasperation and annoyance. So middle ground.

I have to admit that "Enterprise" never really grabbed me. When it was originally on I watched some episodes, but never became a big fan. I'd have to say from the entire Star Trek universe my fave (my #1) is the original series, then Voyager, and a tie between TNG and DS9 then Enterprise.

Vulcans are my fave alien species. I absolutely LOVE Spock. He's been a big help for me with anxiety issues. But aside from that. After seeing Enterprise, and T'Pol and episodes that featured Vulcans. Do you think that T'Pol represented how Vulcans are, their demeanor. I find that they tend to portray them as suspicious, and on the emotional side. (not quite on the emotional scale of humans, but far more emotional than how it was laid out in TOS and later on when they were featured. Tuvok seemed to represent Vulcans more as we saw them in TOS than on Ent.
Just my take on this, I'd like to hear what my fellow fans think.
Her mother described her best, her emotions were always close to the surface plus there are rumours that T'Pol's father was going to be revealed as a Romulan in Season 5, not sure if this was true. I have no issue how she was portrayed in universe. Expecting all Vulcans to be exactly the same makes as much sense as expecting all humans to be the same in the show and we know McCoy, Uhura, Kirk etc had very different personalities and were still human.

I agree with that, about Tuvok. I don't think that all Vulcans should be exactly the same. Just like humans they are individuals. I just was wondering how Humans and Vulcans first got along when they first met. (I had read "Strangers From the Sky"by Margaret Wander Bonanno, a long time ago and wondered how that translated to the ST universe as we saw it on screen.)

Enterprise is the closest we get to that era. (Other than the scene in FC between Cochrane and the Vulcan) I've a feeling thing might have started out well, but deteriorated when the Vulcans just didn't turn over all of their technology, no questions asked.

So about Discovery and a crossover character have they got anybody to do it?

Would say Scott Bakula or Blalock or Phlox or whoever be willingly to show up for a scene.

Are they even planning that?

I'd love to see someone from ENT make a cameo. My number one choice would be Phlox, but really it would be cool to see any of them again.

Archer would be dead or almost 150. T'Pol would be the ideal choice, she would outlive them all. Or better yet have her turn up, pushing the chair of her elderly, human husband 'Michael Kenmore'. ;)

^ Better yet, have Connor Trinneer do a cameo...as Lee Kelso from WNMHGB.

He totally looks like the guy who played Kelso in TOS...

Wanna hear some heads explode? Bring back Crewman Daniels (Matt Winston) and have a sub plot of tinkering with the timeline. :guffaw:
