Next! Your choice for the next Doctor.

Yeah, same here. With each passing turnover, it's becoming less and less likely, but I hope he at least makes a guest appearance. I mean, we got James Corden, twice. Come on!

Have to say my perennial favorite. Steve Valentine. Basically perfect. An actual magician, slightly goofy-looking, charismatic as all get out. Seems like a blend of Capaldi and Tennant. Of course it'll never happen. You know that the next one's gonna be a lady. Oh, and of not Steve then definitely Richard Ayoade.

Silly, off the wall suggestion...

Who?

Imagine a man who could be Simon Pegg's stand in, and reviews cheap "PoundLand" merchandise upon a tatty, brown velvet couch upon YouTube.

Insane? Possibly, but all I ask is that you reconsider once you hear his dry wit in his various segments. Seems one of his preferred catchphrases is, "...and more importantly, know cares?" in a conflicting snarky yet comforting tone. I can so easily imagine the Doctor saying this to dismiss the rantings of the guest baddie.

Catch his on-line movie, "Quest for the 'Game Child'", a parody of spy films, Indiana Jones and other genres. the guy can act. There's something rather "Arthur Dent-ish" in his performance.

Even if you think my notion is stupid, you're likely to get a chuckle from his reviews.

Ever since Snowpiercer, I've been convinced that Tilda Swinton can do anything. I'm also convinced that, like Tom Baker, she's a genuine space alien! (Although I'm guessing that she & Tom Baker are from totally different planets.)

I like the sound of Alexander Siddig but I would be surprised if they went of another actor in their fifties so soon.

From a visual perspective, Siddig & Capaldi are decades apart. I don't know how but Doctor Who has some uncanny ability to find lots of actors that don't at all look like their actual age. William Hartnell & Peter Capaldi were both in their late 50s but looked more like late 60s or 70s. (Meanwhile, Matt Smith was in his late 20s-early 30s but looked about 12!)

Now, for someone who I think would be a great Doctor but definitely would be a little too visually close to Capaldi: Anthony Stewart Head. (He came to mind a couple weeks ago when I was thinking about Buffy and realized, man I miss him!)

Never heard of him. First few photos that came up on a Google search, he reminds me of the John Simm version of the Master.

If the 13th going to be female, then they have to be carefully with it,the show is still a children show,it be hard for a child to understand a man transforming into a woman in the blink of an eye and secondly the ratings, what if no one likes the new female doctor and the ratings start to drop,it been the end of doctor who.

I remember Moffat once saying that he had found that it was generally the female fans who were more trepidatious about a female Doctor. I think that's probably true of a lot of the female fans that I know personally.

Good grief, have you seen Doctor Who? It's a show about an alien that has turned into a different person 11 times. There's nothing confusing about it becoming a woman rather than just a different man, it's not even a freaking human. Children aren't going to give a shit as long as it's still a fun show.

We've had two male Timelords become female, one offscreen (Missy) and one on screen (the General). "The children" didn't freak out when those things happened, so I think they, and the world, can handle The Doctor regenerating into a female.

As for the ratings, you don't know until you try. I doubt the people who would vocally hate it would be enough to tank the ratings, and it would certainly be something new, which could help the show. I don't particularly mind what gender the next Doctor is, but I think it would work either way. An incarnation of The Doctor will or won't work based on the quality of the writing and acting, not based on the gender of the actor playing The Doctor.
