I just had to say it

^Well, sure, they do look comfy but after wearing it for a full shift of who knows how much sweat-inducing drama going on....:barf:

I also thought this was a great point. It really does highlight the "episodic" format of TNG and how weak that seems in comparison to how television generally is today.
True. However, in the context of being the very next Star Trek show after TOS. They DO present many character changes that you'd never have seen on TOS. That show was almost completely episodic. TNG was the bridge that opened the door for the direction Trek & other tv would go

I like TNG, and wasn't implying that I don't. I realize it is a product of its time, just like TOS or anything else.

That said, I think it's a lightyear-wide stretch to claim that the mild, barely noticeable arcs in TNG in some way paved the path for the future landscape of television. No way. No how.

Exactly. TNG was slightly more serialized than TOS, but it was hardly a pioneer on that front when it came to American television. If anything, it was lagging way behind shows like HILL STREET BLUES, DALLAS, DYNASTY, L.A. LAW, etc.

I wouldn't say that. The late 80s, early 90's was big on making television more educational. TNG was part of that and it continues to today. Not to mention the tons of Star Trek refernces (TOS, TNG, and the rest) found in later shows. It did shape part of the future landscape of television.

Doesn't seem to be helping those whacko augments that Bashir hangs out with
Then maybe we should have had an episode where Bashir had over-dosed with his own medicine and been seen dancing on the Promenade and into Quark's Bar singing "High And Happy"!

No offense to Bashir, I actually like him but he's not my favorite DS9 characer.

Hate the TOS uniforms that the woman had to wear, I know the real reason for it but you have to come with some twisted logic for an in universe reason

Not enough Ro Laren in TNG. Just in general.
9 episodes. It's shocking really, how much of an impact she had with such limited appearances. That's only 4 more than Barkley, 3 more than Lwaxana, 2 more than Alexander, & 1 more than Q, & of ALL those characters, the only one to have even a slight appearance in one of their movies was Barkley

It's actually surprising to me that she had more appearances than Q. Certainly didn't feel that way.

why would the crew ... enter the bridge and conduct official business dressed like Ebenezer Scrooge or some Shakespearean peasant?

Did they enjoy freaking out aliens with weird anachronisms? OK, that might be fun....

Could be an advantage to let the Klingons know you're doing Shakespeare. "We're reading it in the original Klingon, too!"

What was it with the chairs at the helm in Season 1. They were almost like recliners and Data and the other officer were laying down.

I liked how Bright the exterior of the Enterprise looked. Blue is my favorite color so to see a lot of it on the ship was an added benefit.

She appeared in 8 episodes

"Ensign Ro"
"Disaster"
"Conundrum"
"Power Play"
"Cause and Effect"
"The Next Phase"
"Rascals"
"Preemptive Strike

Q also appeared in 8 episodes though two of those where 2 paters

"Enc ounter at Farpoint"
"Hide and Q"
"Q Who"
"Deja Q"
"Qpid"
"True Q"
"Tapestry"
"All Good Things"

"Shut up Wesley."

And then young Mr. Crusher didn't walk off the Bridge in disgust.

I hated that.
