    I know who I'd pick.

She's got previous form with Chibnall and if she was happy to spend three years in Ireland (four actually including 'Camelot') I'm sure she'd manage Wales.

I'm really hoping Iwan Rheon gets the part. He's had a good track record with Misfits and Game of Thrones, and has a Matt Smith quality about him. From earlier reports, it seems to be what they're looking for to revitalize the show.

I literally feel like we just had this. Doesn't anyone else feel this is simply too soon?

    Ah, well.

Even though I know it won't happen, I feel compelled to drag out the two people I always mention when this comes up: Eddie Izzard and Alexander Siddig.

If we're so lucky to have a female Doctor, I second Eva Green and I would also suggest Kate Winslett, Rachel Weisz, and Amara Karan.

Hayley Atwell has expressed interest, and it looks as if her ABC show isn't doing that great.

I will say it until it happens. Alexander Siddig

They will audition women this time around, but I hope they don't feel pressured to pick a woman just because parts of the internet kicks up a fuss. Eva Green though....she'd be great. And Amara Karan would be hilarious. The second time in a row where the Doctor "revisits" a face from his past.

Oh, yes, that would be another excellent choice!

Keep saying it and it might happen! :D

Yup, and this time it'll be a face The Doctor wasn't able to save.

I'll second Izzard and Siddig as top choices for male Doctor, as well as Eva Green and Hayley Atweöö for female Doctor.

I'd also still like to see Ben Daniels (who was in the running for, and even falsely reported to be, the 12th Doctor back before Capaldi was announced), but he'd have to leave "The Exorcist" for that.

And if "Elementary" won't be renewed for a sixth season, they should definitely giv Jonny Lee Miller a call.

On the male side has to be Alexander Siddig for me, I think he'd be awesome. Oddly most of my picks now tend to be women, this might just be because it's something I've given more thought to over the last few years. I've long thought Olivia Coleman or Nicola Walker would be awesome, but Atwell, Romola Garai or Laura Carmichael would be great. Of late I'd add Phoebe Waller-Bridge (creator and star of Fleabag) to the list. I think she's awesome and I definitely get a female Tennant vibe from her.

It's gonna be some 35 year old white bloke isn't it?

Simon Baker and Chiwetel Ejiofor remain my top picks for a more traditional Doctor, though I suspect they're not especially likely candidates.

I still don't know exactly what I want in a female doctor, so I find it difficult to pick a woman I'd like to see in the role.

either would be fab. Suspect Ejiofor might be a bit tied up with Marvel and his film career in general going forward.

Wasn't it rumored last time around that Ejiofor was considered for the role but turned it down because he wanted to do only one season? I would also like to see him in the role but I agree that it is unlikely.

I had forgotten about the Ben Daniels rumor and I would also be keen to see him in the role. I was so pleased to see him pop up in Rogue One.

On Twitter someone said Richard Ayoade, which I liked. But my personal choice which will never happen is Jason Statham. How fracking awesome would that be.

I thought I recognised that guy!!!

Now @StCoop has mentioned Eva Green I like that idea as well, but lets add Gillian Anderson to the mix too! Plus Emilia Fox, though that might be too much for me... I should really think of some male actors to suggest.

The moustache was a dead giveaway for me.

I'm surprised it took you this long to mention Emilia Fox ;)

Gillian Anderson is another great idea!

I love the idea of Tom Hardy. And considering he's done Peaky Blinders, we know he's willing to do television.

So time too watch out for the big "new doctor reveal event"? Do you think he will regenerate in this series last episode or will it be in this years christmas special?

Probably the end of the Christmas episode because it's Moffat's last episode.

I doubt (hope) they won't make the mistake of hyping the announcement up in the way they did the last time.

The next series should start shooting in July, so they announcement will probably come in June. One thing's for sure, a day or two before it is announced there be a sudden flurry of bets on one particular name...
