Mass Effect: ANDROMEDA

Still doesn't quite feel like Mass Effect to me - not sure what it is. The combat feels a little hectic and less tactical, for one.

That is probably just the individual playstyle and build. Some character builds in the old ME games could be pretty hectic, too, especially when melee'ing. The player in that video also didn't use any cover, did she? I usually rush less and enjoy taking my time. No reason to believe that won't be possible in the new game.

I can't wait to see Cora. Even with this new preview, you can see a hint of what she looks like in the portrait status in the lower middle of the screen. I heard she is a "bombshell" in terms of looks. I hope she isn't overdone like Ashley was in Mass Effect 3 when compared to Mass Effect 1. Ashley had a natural beauty look in Mass Effect 1 , in my opinion.

I really hope Bioware announces the multiplayer beta release and who gets into the multiplayer beta by the end of the month. I'll be very upset if we get a random weapon generator again. It wasn't fun trying to get ultra rare weapons in ME3 mutliplayer.

Yeah, there were some builds (especially in the MP) that depended on being in the mix, fighting tactically rather than strategically.
I'd say that flexibility is the real strength of the combat system they came up with. It was balanced to accommodate some really diverse playstyles.

I do that on occasion, before getting annoyed and just ramming into the enemies and firing at close range. It makes things easier!

Hadn't seen the gameplay footage until now as I got slightly distracted with the release date - looks brilliant. Enough familier elements in there to follow on from ME3 and some nice new touches, including the scanner.

Most importantly..... I want my not really the Mako! That alone's got me looking forward to getting a copy!

I'm getting very strong DA:I in Space vibes from ME:A, curious to see how they execute on that;

DA:I had way to much filler content for a comparatively short story, while I'm not opposed to some free exploration, I sure hope they won't be padding out the playtime with numerous "collect x objects" quests.

My thoughts exactly. Their talk about wanting to make "the biggest Mass Effect" ever kinda worries me.
Bioware is great at creating stories and characters but when they try to go "big" they make worlds full of repetitive time sink content. Collect this, build that, explore there.
That's not what Mass Effect should be like if you ask me. I've always loved that it had so little filler content compared with other games.

I still haven't finished DA:I because it bored me to death. The plot structure was so simplistic and once you lose your first HQ you immediately and conveniently stumble across a new base.
Expanding and improving that is just time sink content. It has no story and it is repetitive.
I want to experience story and talk to people instead.

What does "bigger" mean, really? Mass Effect doesn't need a bigger world than previous games. Just for the sake of having a bigger area? What for...

If you want to make it bigger, make the story even more epic, expand even more on the team members, give us depth in the game world, lore and setting. Depth, not size.

I'm still very torn on whether or not to buy this.... I've been buying older stuff, but it does look good from what has been released, just decisions, decisions.

It certainly looks great, but I'm going to wait to hear some word-of-mouth (from actual gamers and fans, not "reviews") before I make the decision to purchase it.

I've got it on pre-order, but then in overall I've enjoyed all the single player Bioware games (even if parts have disappointed).

Inquisition is the only one that (thus far at least) hasn't been played multiple times.

Third briefing is up and holy crap I love the Tempest even more.

Very nice.. i was not very much a fan of the Tempest but this video did a lot to make me warm up to it but then again following the Normandy is a tough act.

I hope zipping around land in the Nomad will be more useful than in ME1 (and not be indestructible ) but it sure looks fun.

A litte over 2 months and we can have a go at it.. i hope they can repeat the brilliance that were the first trilogy with their varied characters, epic story and good mix of adventure/combat. How Hollywood isn't falling over itself to adapt Mass Effect into a blockbuster is stll a mystery ot me but then again they also know of Halo and nothing substantial happened there either. Go figure.

Video game movies have never really worked well for Hollywood. I don't know why they keep messing those up, but they do.

Oooh new ship looks sweet...

The Nomad is even cool. I think that's even better then the Mako.

Well here's hoping we get a good game.

Was there any truth about it being loaded with micro transactions? That is one thing that will really put me off. I hope there's a single player mode.

The series has typically been single player (ME3 was the first to have any multi) so I don't expect much change for this one.

(I haven't been keeping up to date on the videos though)

My only real complaint so far with Andromeda is that it has been confirmed that the Tempest isn't armed at all. They said in the latest vid it didn't have a "main gun". Thats fine, it is a pretty small ship ment for exploration and scientific research. But it has now been confirmed she doesn't have any armaments at all. Don't know if going into a totally unknown region of space unarmed is terribly wise....

It's very naive.. There's worse things then the Reapers in other galaxies. You can bet on that.

One thing I've always wondered, what happens to planets that never discover the Citadel or intergalactic travel? I view the Citadel as the ultimate honey trap.

  1. Civilization A finds it, explores builds communities there and commerce
  2. Civilization B finds it same.
  3. And so on and so on.
All the while the Citadel has systems that keep records of who is there where they are from and such, and also they use the Citadel's data banks to create and research new technologies as each new race finds it. All along the Reapers through their various means will use that intel to harvest those same worlds..

But what happens to worlds that never make it that far into space and find the Citadel? Do the Reapers still find them and harvest them? What about present day Earth I wonder if they'd just pass us by or be keen to pillage us?
