New (UK) Eaglemoss Star Trek Graphic Novels Collection

This series is going international. It will be offered through comic shops beginning with January's PREVIEWS.

I'm going to be ordering these through my local comic shop. The January solicitation has two volumes offered. For anyone that's dealt with Eaglemoss here in the states: do these two items usually arrive on the same day or on two separate occasions in the month?

They will probably arrive on the same day. Eaglemoss seems to ship their products to the US in batches to cut down on shipping costs. I used to get the DC Chess Collection, and I'd often get two pieces at a time. It's also not uncommon to receive items out of order; if you have volumes 3, 4, and 5 on order, you could get 3 and 5 on the same week, then 4 the next or the week after that. It's just the vagaries of their shipping.

I've just signed up for this. Been keeping my eye on it so I'm happy it's become an official release. :)

Ah, good to know. Thanks for the response, @Allyn Gibson ! :)

All I can see on the Eaglemoss site for this is January 2017. Seen as we're here now has anyone seen a more direct date yet? Or maybe even seen it in shops?

A lot of these things come out on a Thursday don't they? I know the Star Trek Starships and the Marvel MCU figures do anyway.

I'll get the first one for £1.99, can't really complain for that price. And then probably cherry pick the ones after that. It is true though that if they want do all the Trek comics like they claim, it would take aaaaaages, and use about 4 times the amount of books you see in their spine cover display. Also they've only announced what the first 4 issues, and they're all relatively recent IDW stuff. I'm hoping we get some more older, obsecurer stuff soon. As all the IDW ones you can easily find on Amazon or most book shops anyway.

Can't say I've ever been into adult comics (sorry, graphic novels!) but as this is something related to Trek, I've decided to give it a go and signed up on the website a few days ago. Hopefully if I like it, and it runs and runs, the book sizes will be such I will be able to get the full set.

I had to bail on Eaglemoss's Star Ships Collection in the end, as the space requirements of the 140+ models it is going to continue to would of been insane.

Yes. As it's a partwork it wouldn't be available on Amazon. If you want them it will have to be either via a direct sub on their website, or an order with your newsagent.

If all you are after are the comics there are easier ways to get them. Most of IDW's stuff is still available digitally, and all of the other comics except for the Tokyopop stuff, the UK stuff, and the comic strips is on the Comics Collection DVD which you can get on Amazon for about $20.

Got the first issue, never read Countdown properly so I'll have a look. I've never been a fan of David Messina's artwork though (he did a few Angel comics for IDW too) as his artwork always looks so static. So yeah I'll probably pick and choose later issues

When do you think we'll see a complete release schedule for the series? The website shows a row of 50 books, so I assume they've already planned out the series for the next two years.

I don't think Eaglemoss ever announce these things more than a few books out.

I'm really glad this is happening, especially if it covers the whole 50 years of comics. There is a whole load of stuff that has NEVER been reprinted, especially from when Marvel had the licence in the late 90s.

I've been trying to collect all the comics for many years so this is like a godsend for me. The first four volumes are all IDW focused but hopefully that will change.

Well, virtually everything except TokyoPop, IDW, and the newspaper strips got released on the DVD-ROM collection a few years back, so it's all out there, if not on paper. I guess it depends on how you define "printed."

Well by "printed" i mean on paper ;) I do have the DVD ROM but I prefer reading the old fashioned way

I found several video reviews of the Graphic Novel Collection on YouTube.

I'm not sure what to think of the decision to include a bonus Gold Key story in each issue. It might be a bit jarring to read a story about the final battle against the Borg Collective during which a major character dies and then read "Invasion of the City Builders" immediately afterward.

Hi, I'm a new user signed up to find out more about this series.

I've been a long time Trekkie and just got this first issue of this collection. The first book is very nice and the quality of the visuals is good but I'm still in two minds whether to subscribe or not as £20 p/m seems a bit on the expensive side. Also I'm not sure if I would like some of the older stuff.

Does anyone know if the collection will encompass every authorised comic book Trek story ever published?

That's my understanding, though it will take years to get anywhere near close to them all. I also don't like the idea of putting a Gold Key comic in each issue. They should be seperate no different than all the other series.

There has been no statement that EVERY comic ever will be published, though Eaglemoss will no doubt keep going until things turn unprofitable. The current plan is 80 volumes, but this often gets increased with this sort of partwork.

As for the expense... £9.99 for a hardback graphic novel is actually very reasonable. Yes, two per month might push collecting out of some collectors' reach, but the actual VFM for me is pretty good.

A little disappointed the first four issues are all IDW, relatively recent, stories. Can't wait to see some older, previously-uncollected stuff e.g. Marvel's output during the 1990s, much of the DC run etc.
