News Carrie Fisher dies

Hope there's some kind of tribute to her in the credits or something.
What I would do if it were my movie is design a title card that says "For Carrie" before the "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...." thing. Put a picture of her as Leia, or as young Leia and older Leia, with the text.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....
Opening crawl

Since it's Star Wars though, they'll probably want to protect the continuity of all the episodes and leave the starting portion alone, and give her a screen to herself in the end credits.

Regarding Debbie Reynolds.....sigh. So sad. Upset and stressed over losing her daughter, has a stroke and dies a day later, basically from a broken heart. Jeez.

Enough, 2016. Enough.

Within the last few years I've known of two mothers who died soon after the death of their respective children, but both those events happened within a year, not a day.

This reminds me of what Celine Dion went through recently, losing her husband and brother within days of each other. :(

That movie's (sadly) considered one of the worst of all time by many critics and people, but I never saw what was wrong with it. Enjoy yourself and have a ball seeing it. :techman:

I definitely enjoyed it whenever I saw it last (probably 25 years ago). I tend to collect movies that are badly rated anyway.

Most Chevy Chase movies get a raw deal. He's not as overtly funny as his SNL mates from that era.

I think Carrie in the midst of all those little people foreshadowed ROTJ somewhat.

Damn it, my mind just went meta on me in regards to mother and daughter....Padme and Leia, with Padme dying of a broken heart....like Debbie Reynolds...from a certain point of view.

Ironically, her mother passed the same way as her "Star Wars" mother; A broken heart.
I guess that shit can happen. Shakespearean but true.
And terribly, terribly tragic.

I just heard about that (the cheetah population crash) :(. It's horrible.
.

They are specialists--like the saber tooth stabbing cats--probably an evolutionary dead end. Hyenas though...they'll live until the end of this planet.

Carrie played Ellen Tenzer in a Nero Wolfe episode not too long ago--called The Mother Hunt. That title alone saddens me

When they said she had stabilised I was hoping she would pull through. .

That's when you should fear the worst. I've always heard it that many folks get a bit better before passing. If you know of anyone sick--be aware that things can happen quickly-

I guess Debbie took the old quote to heart, "A parent should never have to bury their child"..

I knew that was coming. My Mom didn't outlive my Dad four months.

"What am I going to do?" That's all she would say. Weird Al's parents died together from carbon monoxide. Neither grieved the other--and lived a full life, checking out before disease could separate them. That's one in the eye for death.

I hate it for the grand-daughter...but..itn some sense Carrie and her Mom are together.

ABC will have a 20/20 special on them tonight.

When Robin Williams passed--it was Koko that was first thing that popped into my head.

Years before Coruscant was ever mentioned--Carrie talked about seeing impossibly huge cities in her mind. Full of lights

Those lights are dimming now....

With the loss of Vera Rubin--now even the stars seem to be winking out.

The coroner's report on Carrie Fisher's death has come out and revealed that she died from sleep apnea, and that one of the contributing factors was a buildup of fatty tissue in her artery walls. It has also now been revealed that she had cocaine, heroin, and ecstasy in her system at the time she died. That is a big shock to me, I thought she had gotten clear years ago.

The cocaine doesn't surprise me any. Under studio pressure to take a lot of weight off fast, and keep it off for three movies... must've seemed a easy choice to her. The heroin's harder to justify (since she practically had a front-row seat to a cocaine/heroin combo killing John Belushi in '82) unless it was to mask the cocaine and keep her from looking strung out. Both drugs and ecstasy... I dunno. It almost sounds suicidal given her age and condition, but she was really looking forward to doing IX.

:weep: *sigh* If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny...

She could have had access to all manner of legal amphetamines and other weight loss drugs from a doctor with a loose scrip pad, and any number of them would be far more effective than cocaine.

She did drugs because her brain was wired badly and doing them made the world momentarily suck less; the same reason all addicts do.

It's sad how often actors like Carrie get themselves clean, and then a new wave of success and fall back into their old habits.
