There seems to be an increasing trend in Super Sentai to have suit characters (creatures or robots) as Rangers rather than just as villains. I know it's happened before, like with Cruger in Dekaranger/SPD, but it seems to be happening more regularly lately. Go-Busters had Beet J. Stag, Kyoryuger/Dino Charge had Torin/Zenowing, Zyuohger had most of its team consisting of anthropomorphic-animal "Zyumans" (although they did have human-appearing forms), and now this show has four Rangers who are suit characters. I wonder what's driving the change. Are the nonhuman Rangers popular as toys?
Bandai of Japan has practically given up on 5 inch figures. The last series that got figures was Ninninger and that was just the three guys. This is probably a test run/ continuation of the idea of non human ranger/characters on the show. There's still a five person cast but with non human characters inserted They used the bandai of america mold. In Zyouhger the zyuman got plushies that were promoted in the series too Hey Chris. I'd like to hear your reviews on Zyouhger episodes if you have time. Subs are adequate. There will be some bad translations though. This is episode 21 http://kissasian.com/Drama/Doubutsu-Sentai-Zyuohger/Episode-21?id=29460
Interesting story coming out that concerns both sentai and Power Rangers http://awwman.com/nps/main/2016/12/...-sr-director-of-marketing-for-bandai-america/ Some highlights - In the past BoJ has told them "this is what you'll be working with" - Got "very early" exposure to sit down with Bandai and Toei - Had the ability to talk through the concept together - Tried to influence it to make Power Rangers as competitive and exciting as possible because the landscape for boys toys has changed so much - Old Marvel vs Marvel Movies as an idea in how to protect backstory but evolve the brand visually - Kids should always know a Power Ranger when they see one but be able to realize the differences - Helped at the conceptual stage think about arsenal I think it's looking more and more likely Zyouhger will be skipped for Kyuranger
Funko has revealed their Pop! figures and keychain figures of the movie Rangers and Rita (Rita is only a Pop! figure, not a keychain).
First look at Zordon in the new Ranger movie revealed. Could be worse. Although in this case I'd have wished they just straight up copied the tube from the show rather than this fish bowl. Courtesy of Power Rangers NOW.
Heh, I was wondering why those figures seemed to have twice the bulk of other Japanese action figures. Go Go Powerful Rangers! Huh. I like the use of color on the Funko pops more than the actual suits themselves that we've seen in publicity. Adding in or thickening the black lines helps to emphasize their respective colors more (aside from Black, obviously, but I'll take it), rather than just having a nearly monochrome suit. Hard for me personally to tell from the screen, but at least there's some color there, as opposed to the mostly monochrome designs we've been seeing so far. I wonder if Cranston will do an accent.
New Ninja Steel trailer and clip And we have "red bot" the human sized version of ShinobiMaru from Ninninger
Another Red Ranger with a missing father? We just had that. At least they could wait a few seasons before recycling tropes.
Huh, turning Shinobimaru into a human-sized Alpha support character is pretty neat, kind of like an American Buddyroid. I'm now a bit more enthusiastic about how the Zord fights will play out.
I looked up the original on RangerWiki, and it seems his head design is different there than in the clip. I wonder why.
The "Shinobimaru" look will probably be "Redbot's" large mode For those that are curious about Ninninger's mecha AkaNinger turned large and sort of became Ultraman for one battle
Having never been a PR fan, I have to hand it to the marketing team for their subtle trailer I saw a bit ago... I had NO idea it was a trailer for the PR movie until the very end, and in the meantime, thought to myself that "Hey.. This looks pretty cool. Is this a new Marvel movie or something?" Imagine my shock when I realized... They may have sucked me in...
That's what teaser trailers are generally meant to do. The hardcore fans complain "What? That's nothing like Insert Franchise Here, it's just some generic movie!" But the intention is to draw in people who aren't already fans of the franchise and get them curious. Looks like it worked in your case. Also, of course, teaser trailers are made before all the visual-effects shots are done, so this one was necessarily light on the big Power-Rangery action and stuff that will no doubt be more heavily featured in the later trailers. Not to mention that there are just a few ad firms that make most of the trailers for Hollywood movies, which is why they tend to feel similar to each other.
I always found the concept of Power Rangers to be interesting. I just couldn't stand the execution for US Saturday morning television. This movie looks like it will be enjoyable. Kor
Makes about as much sense as Go-Busters' "Let's morphin!" or "Let's driving!" God, I hated those so much.
Oh, I see. And the pun on English "go" and Japanese "go" (five) has been a recurring wordplay in Super Sentai for decades. This is a 9-member team, but we know from the initial announcement that it has 5 core and 4 secondary members.
