The fleet won't die. Like Timelord said, our fleet holdings are almost fully developed and those won't go away. I have been doing basic admin to keep the fleet running, stuff like putting up and upgrading fleet projects and promoting players. However being from Singapore, my play time is very different from everyone else. So there's very little chance for me to chat with you guys in-game and do stuff together.

It would be nice to have a few more America or European Adjuncts who can cover things when I'm not around.

I am European (well....brexit aside....) and available. Am off a lot atm, but will be returning to more active stratus soon. What needs doing?

Pretty much what I've said.. Keep fleet projects churning, occasionally promoting players, be friendly, give advice and tips to newer players, maybe organize a couple of queued events and mission runs, that sort of thing. Oh and perhaps its time we do some sort of recruitment drive..

I thought recruitment was linked directly to being I the bbs?

It's a convention we've been using, but I don't think it has ever been an actual rule. Besides, even rules may need to be adapted to suit the current situation. This is especially true for the KDF fleet.

We never forbid members from outside TrekBBS, really.
Some people invited friends in the past for example.
Though full fleet priviliges used to be reserved for noatd members.
Where other fleets require you to donate a million dilithium or such nonsense to hand out promotions a quick registration here would not hurt.
Chances are they are Star Trek fans and target group for the bbs anyway.

Oh I know, two friends of mine and my mrs both joined the fleet as this 'friends and family' membership extension lol. If we are officially switching to open recruitment, that would be good to know. It's been a while since I worked on my guild over in guild wars, so don't know if recruitment will work the same way in Trek. Worth a try mind you.

I am still here and have been logging on for the winter event, but I really feel i've achieved my goals. I have done all the missions, I have played all the STFs. All my reputations are maxed and i have a surplus of 3000 to 5000 rep marks in each category. When something new comes out i jump onto my main, do it then pull back again. I really just log on with my AoY character, trying to finish the Commendations / Admiralty / Specialisations. And all that amounts to is sitting in place and doing DoFFing / Admiralty.assignments.

I think the game needs something big. AoY wasn't it, but that is probably what all future expansions will be like.

I can try to keep an eye on Fleet projects, I think my main has that ability. But I enver see anyone on or chatting to get involved further.

The problem is the game is actually a pretty solitary experience...MMOs only come alive if you form up as a group. The. You are redoing Alta and helping out newbies etc.

STO in general? I definitely am. I play on Xbox though, and it doesn't seem like too many people on this board play it on console. Even on days when I don't play missions, I generally update my duty officer missions every day.

I play it on XBox One as well, though I did take some time off from playing any games on my console.

I liked things up to the Delta Quadrant, and then the wheels start to fall off the story telling. It is a VOY setting and it feels like VOY writing: things, decisions and characterizations that make no sense, that no one calls into question, but the audience most surely does. I legitimately found myself creating the fan theory that Delta Quadrant cultures are just more irrational and less intelligent than the rest of the galaxy. There was an opportunity to do a nice reboot of taking those ideas and turning them into solid writing, but that did not really happen here.

On the whole, I dislike many things about the writing and story. I understand it is there for gameplay, but it feels derivative, and I also dislike that everything is interconnected. It makes the setting feel small. The wonder of scifi is that one fantastical thing has nothing to do with another thing; it does not need to be part of a megaplot by the Iconians, or to have come from fluidic space.

I haven't played in almost a year now. The Kelinverse Enterprise tempted me to go back to it, but then I took a look at all the grinding I would have to do to get one without paying for it, and it just doesn't seem worth it. I've been looking for a T5 Constitution since I started this damn game; I've been hoping for a Kelvinverse Enterprise at least as long. But having to roll the dice or pay a billion EC for the damn ship just aint worth it.

Call it vanity, call it whatever. I'm a 23rd century fanboy and I prefer to play it that way :shifty:

Yes well, it is a Constitution. Everyone wants the ship. Coupled with limited available, I'm actually surprised it only costs a billion ec.

In some cases yeah, but in other cases.....everything happens to a ship named enterprise. In two universes. And as luck would have it, O'Brien transfers off the enterprise, nice quiet life on a station....that then becomes the most important spot in the galaxy for a while.
The Star Trek universe is already small in the way you mention, so it's just a way to give some flavour.

But the fantastical things the Enterprise encounters are not all part of one thing. They are unique. Happening to run across some creature that lives in open space is far more interesting than it being the space cows of Species 8472, who are in turn manipulated by the Iconians.
