Hello all,
I was going through a Star Trek games top 10 when I came across an old post of mine in which I was thinking of opening an appreciation thread for two of what I think are some of the best Star Trek games that capture the feeling of the original show.
Well here is the thread.
Those who have played the games know that they were an awesome combination of adventure gaming and a space flight sim (taking inspirations from the Wing Commander 1 and 2 space sim), during which the player control captain Kirk and the rest of the Enterprise crew through several episodes, most of them having their own independent storyline (some elements in ST25th would be recurring such as the Elasi Pirates, and in Judgment Rites the last two "episodes" made up a continuing storyline)
Star Trek 25th Anniversary
Star Trek Judgment Rites
(as a bonus I threw in the NES Star Trek 25th Anniversary game)
The gameplay wasn't that special but it had an okay storyline that was at least worth finishing once.
I really wished that this series would get a third part, when Star Trek Secret of Vulcan Fury was announced I immediately hoped that it would be like 25th and JR. It would however later be revealed to be more like like the Myst games that were popular at the time.
Sadly other than Star Trek TNG A Final Unity there would not be another Star Trek adventure game in the style of 25th and JR.
If a new Star Trek adventure/flight sim title would be made, what would people here like to see in the game?
Well regarding the flight sim part I would really like to see it play like Star Trek Bridge Commander and that it would also include a battle simulator in which the player can fly various types of starships other than the Constitution class (other Starfleet ships as well as alien ships with their own strengths and limits) against simulated enemies.
I would also enjoy hearing from other people's experience and memories of these two/three titles.
