Given that things seem to be moving so fast in the Kelvinverse, will it work out like this? Kirk and company steal the Enterprise-A from base ahead of schedule and against orders, before it's fully fitted out, after receiving a message from his father, who is hanging out somewhere with Spock's half brother and whose motives may not be as pure as Kirk believes.

It seems like the whole AR franchise revolves around Daddy.

'09: Kirk loses biological dad, gains surrogate dad
ID: Kirk loses surrogate dad, emulates biological dad
Beyond: Kirk surpasses biological dad (age and career), doesn't mention surrogate dad, becomes his own man (grows up) and fights who he was going to become (Krall) if he let himself sink into bitterness and disillusion.

So it follows that the next film could be Kirk VS his dad (or heck, maybe mirror universe George Kirk). After all this time wanting to be his dad, maybe he doesn't any more.

The fourth film is going to be about a bad guy/gal threatening Earth, and Kirk and his crew stop him/her. Just like every nuTrek film has been about.

If I were a betting man, I'd say the Enterprise will be a backdrop, not wrecked or destroyed or even paid attention to much.

Maybe the entire story will happen while Kirk and company are on shore leave, and the Enterprise won't feature at all.

It'd keep the budget down for sure.

So we go from 'Enterprise constantly gets it's arse kicked' to not featuring at all? No thanks. The Enterprise is a character, they need to start treating her as such.

After that fast-forward tease shot of the Enterprise-A? No way! Though maybe she'll be able to do something cool that doesn't involve being blasted.

I hope the interior is more colorful, sort of like the TOS Enterprise was.

Maybe Carol Marcus returns and tells Kirk he's going to be a dad...couple his angst over how he'll be able to handle it with reuniting with George, and well....

Marcus thanks him for his sperm and then tells him to bugger off, Kirk becomes a deadbeat dad like McCoy...25 years later some rogue Klingon kidnaps his son, then Kirk acts like Father of the year

Not remotely so, it's a metal construction that can be treated as they see fit.

That doesn't exclude the fact that she is a character in Star Trek just like the Millennium Falcon is a 'character' in Star Wars. In terms of screen time the Enterprise(s) is the second or third most important character.

Traded in poker games, beaten up repeatidly then dumped in a rubbish tip for decades. Because that's how we should treat "characters".

Some of us disavow Episode VII harder than anyone ever disavowed Star Trek V. ;)

Did Beyond feature Earth or a threat to Earth?
    TMP- New Ship
    TWOK- Ship takes heavy damage
    TSFS-Ship is destroyed
    TVH-New ship at the end
    TFF- New ship
TUC- Ship takes heavy damage. Retired?
    GEN-Ship is destoyed
    FC-Ship takes heavy damage
INS- ???? I forget, did the ship do anything?
    NEM-More heavy damage.

I guess new Trek needs to space it out a bit.

ST III makes it clear that Kirk stayed away from David's upbringing because Carol wanted it that way. Therefore, logically speaking, Kirk is not a "deadbeat dad".

Rubbish. I guess data, R2D2 and C3P0 aren't characters then. The enterprise is more important a character in trek than half the crew it carries.

And how is McCoy a deadbeat dad? We know nothing of his relationship with his daughter.

Not sure you can compare them to the Enterprise. Different things. Now the TARDIS or the Batmobile might be better examples of objects thast are/aren't characters.
