StarTrek.com has a story about the February comics, which includes a special Jayla focused issue of Boldly Go. I was really hoping we'd get some kind of Jayla story after Beyond so I'm very happy about this, although I haven't read any of the Kelvinverse comics yet, so it'll be a while before I get to this one.

Wonderful, that they show the Borg mostly as they were in Q Who and BOBW and not the stupid space zombies they became later on. I also really like that they finally show Planet Scooping and what would have happened to the Enterprise D, if they hadn't escaped the Borg.

It's great to see Borg that act like Borg again!

Is it me, or do the ships on the Jaylah cover kind of resemble Earth ships from Stargate?

Oh yeah, I think I can see that. Also vaguely reminds me of a Terran battlecruiser from Starcraft.

Does anyone else also have that feeling that the authors might be using Maurice Hurley's original plans for the Borg, where a scout ship destroyed the Romulan Star Empire?

It's interesting that the Borg Ship is heading into Romulan Space...

I never knew that was the original plan for them.

I don't know about "scout ship" but yes, the original plan was to introduce the Borg at the end of season 1 and have them wipe out the Romulans. Then the budget ran out, and we had to settle for The Neutral Zone instead with Romulan colonies being mysteriously eradicated. They paid lip service to this in Q Who when they said the planets had damage consistent with what happened to those Romulan colonies.

Huh, I never heard that part of the story development. I knew that "Conspiracy" was originally supposed to lead into the idea that later evolved into the Borg; was that before or after this change in plans? Like, was that another casualty of the change in direction, or was it a plan B that also ended up falling through?

The part about the scout ship was mentioned in the Borg Issue of Star Trek - The Magazine.

I'm not really sure how Conspiracy works into this. As it is, what I posted is half-remembered from the old TNG Companion.

Ok I have read it. Reminds me of a TNG episode and I suspect it will have a similar ending. Once you have read it you will understand my reference.

So I guess Next month's issue #4 will be the ending of the First Arc of this new comic series and i'm hoping it ends on a high note. I'm starting to enjoy this comic series.

I enjoyed the ending, it ended on a realistic note, especially for certain characters.

I'm just glad the Borg story is over. Now I can look forward to the next issue.

The artist continues to use photo reference that pulls me out of the story. One of the Borg drones was clearly Ensign Lynch from First Contact, even though that would be impossible without some reeeeeaaaal stretching of logic and timelines. I'm sure I'm a minority, it just bugs me is all. :)

I thought the final issue of the Borg storyline was pretty effective. Spock's assimilation went pretty close to how i thought it would go. The fate of Kirk's first officer was a slight disappointment -- I was hoping she'd remain a regular, as I thought a Romulan first officer had potential -- but this does open up room for Spock to join the Endeavor's crew.

Hopefully, Starfleet is able to restore Clark Terrell and Sulu's family. :)

I thought Terrell was left on the ship?

On the Borg ship? I'll have to go back and look, but it looked to me like the Endeavor was beaming off anyone Borged with human or Romulan life signs.

I wanted more! the ending felt a bit rushed but yep, the way they handled Spock is exactly like I imagined they would and I loved it :)
