Ron Glass Has Died

Always thought that Ron Glass should have guest starred on Castle. Didn't that show take place in the same precinct that Barney Miller did? Would have been a perfect time for Castle to interview Detective Harris and find out what police life was like back then...

That said, here's my favorite RG role.

GGGGGRRRRRRR! I HATE 2016 WITH A PASSION! ARGH!

Rest in peace, Ron. :(

The first thing I ever saw him in was one of the shorter-lived TGIF shows, called "Teen Angel" (exactly as silly as it sounds), where played a giant floating head and mentor to the title character, identifying himself as "God's cousin... Rod." (He also played an evil twin of sorts in one episode, as "the Devil's cousin... Neville").

I also remembered him from an early episode of "Family Matters", playing this kind father on a sitcom, who's a complete @$$ hole in real life (and who, in retrospect, I'm convinced the writers had based on Bill Cosby).

I'm also sorry they didn't use him more than the two episodes they did on "Agents of SHIELD". Really though his role (as the doctor who operated on Coulson for the "TAHITI" project) was going to be bigger than it turned out to be.

Edited to add: This thread should probably be on the "Voyager" board.

Just when I thought the Grim Reaper had squared things via Castro....

Most people in these parts would probably associate him with Firefly first and foremost. Maybe Barney Miller.

If nothing else, being part of a beloved science fiction show is a good way to be remembered. We geeks and nerds have pretty long memories and go back to the well from time to time. I remember him from Barney Miller but I'm sure some teen or twenty-year-old will soon discover Firefly and Book and become another fan.

Loved him on Barney Miller and Firefly. He was my fantasy casting for Theodore Marley "Ham" Brooks in Doc Savage.

RIP Ron.

Yeah, I was disappointed he didn't return for more episodes. I was so happy showed up in his first appearance.

Besides, no reason not to have multiple dedication threads across the forum for him.

I'm gonna go watch Firefly now.
Tomorrow, I'm going to finally do the Firefly marathon that I've been putting off for ages.

Perhaps he was sick? Glass' last credited acting roles were all in 2014, the same year he was on two episodes of Agents.

RIP. He was great on Barney Miller.

Damn, this is a downer at the end of what was already not a particularly swell week. He was awesome on Firefly. One of my favourite lines, was when they were rescuing Mal from Niska, Zoe asks Book if he's okay joining in the fight as "the Bible says some pretty specific things about killing." Book responds "very specific. It is, however, rather vague on the issue of knee-capping."

The same episode also stands out as the only time in Firefly Ron Glass had any lines in Chinese, angrily saying a sentence in Chinese is how Book reacts when it's revealed Niska has sent back one of Mal's ears. In the DVD commentary, Alan Tudyk jokes that Glass made the sentence sound "almost Klingon."

The Cubs won, 2016 can't be all bad people, plus everyone who posted here is alive.

That said this completely blows! He was by far the best thing about Firefly.
