Ron Glass Has Died

Not only did he play Harris brilliantly against typical black stereotypes of the day, when Harris got successful he could be downright unlikable, and they just let him go with it. The confidence Glass showed in that role was amazing. He was great in everything.
When I was a kid, I remember watching the Barney Miller episode when they paid tribute to Jack Soo, and I thought that was so cool that the actors talked to the camera as themselves (and Max Gail didn't bother to wear his hairpiece!). And it also made me sad, and this makes me sad. Only Hal Linden and Gail left (though I guess you can count Barbara Barrie and Gregory Sierra).
